What was your earliest memory?

If I concentrate hard enough, I can remember being a toddler, in a colorful swing, I could only just sit up so I must have been less than a year old, and my dad was laughing with me as he pushed me on it. It’s easier to think of one more recent by comparison. I must have been about 3 because we moved out of this house by the time I was 4, but I still remember the walls were painted white and the floors were hardwood. My clearest, oldest memory is that of becoming aware for the first time, hoe I decided to go downstairs after getting out of bed, finding my mother and looking up at her and hearing a question of “Who is that?” In my mind, and suddenly receiving a flash of memories of her, my father, my brother, my friends, my neighborhood, and a sudden comfort in knowing, “Oh, yeah. That’s right. That’s who she is, and this is who I am.”


To be honest, the vivid clarity of that moment sticks with me even now in my 30’s. I’m convinced that was the day my soul entered my body and I’ve continued to hold onto the belief that souls don’t enter us until we’re about 3-4 years old.

probably my grandma's apartment when i was like 1.5 or 2 years old

My earliest memory is arguing with my mother, lol.

She was babysitting another kid, and that kid wanted to play with one of my toys. I was afraid he'd break it, but she let him play with it, anyway. Sure enough, he broke it, and I was mad at my mom for letting him play with.

According to her, I was two years old, at the time. It was apparently traumatic enough for me to remember. 🤷‍♂️

Being in a car and a black bear putting it's paw up to my window. I just misremembered the location and circumstances, but I remember the event. I think I was around 2. Nice to see a new French girl on here :)
