Do most people that don't have kids regret not having kids?

From what I’ve seen, it really depends on the person. I know for me personally, I would regret not having kids. I grew up in a very family-oriented environment where love, support, and guidance were a huge part of my life, and I want to give that to a child one day. Being able to raise someone, teach them, and watch them grow feels like one of the biggest blessings in life.

I also think a lot of people who say they don’t want kids sometimes end up changing their minds later, especially when they get older and realize they don’t have that bond or legacy. Not everyone regrets it, but I’ve definitely heard many say they wish they had experienced parenthood.

That’s why I’ve already decided that if I don’t find the right partner, I’ll still have a child on my own through artificial insemination. I’d rather build a loving, stable home for a child by myself than look back and feel like I missed out on something that’s always been important to me. For me, the idea of raising a child brings purpose and joy that I don’t want to give up.

Some do, some don’t, it really depends on the person, not the stereotype.

A lot of people without kids feel completely fulfilled because they built their life around things that matter to them career, freedom, stability, travel, or simply peace.

Others do feel a sense of regret later, usually because they wanted a family but never had the right timing, partner, or circumstances.

But there isn’t one universal outcome.

People thrive in different ways, and having kids is just one path not the only one.

I've never regretted it. I mean when I get together at extended family things it's glaring that I'm the only one without kids and that makes it a little awkward for me. But that's certainly not a good reason to have kids.

This is the path my life took. I've questioned it at times, but never regretted it.

I think it depends on the person.

If a person made up their minds especially from their youth they don't want kids then these types don't regret it.

But those who wanted kids but delayed having them for whatever reason then they get a bit old those come to regret it.

Once in awhile I feel the calling of the myth called maternal instinct but after a weekend of taking care of my 2 nieces, no. I mean, we have an awesome time and so much fun but I am relieved (and tired 🤣) when they go home and I realize I do not have any regrets from the life choice I made.
