They weren't overprotective, they let me go through experiences and learn from them without much interference but of course, both my parents and brothers would protect me in a heartbeat if I needed it. Being the youngest and only daughter/sister was quite intimidating for boyfriend's lol
I had both as I've been a passive and closed character my parents especially my mum was very protective. Look back it was that it had some good aspects but it also fuelled my insecurities and it also led me to a situation where I have a low self confidence as someone else always double checked my actions.
Wouldn't say overprotective, but I wouldn't exactly say extremely easy going either. And it's annoying dealing with my mom's germaphobia all the time.
I'm not sure about overly but since I am the baby of the family they certainly did and still do to some degree, treat me that way.
Like it was ok for my 4 older sisters to taunt and tease me but they made sure no one else did. 🤣

For me personally, no. I was the kid they didn’t have to worry about, I was always home and didn’t do anything that was raising any bells. They always knew where I was, where I was going, and who I was with.
but I do think parents should start being over protective, considering how easy the internet is accessible now to children. I mean no child should have access to porn, or even think about masturbating. Let alone sneaking out to have sex, or sneaking out in general.
thankfully in the city I grew up with/ when I was in school the boys weren’t porn addicts who went around talking about there dicks.
My parents taught me to be independent, best thing a parent can do for their children.
My ex-wife (mother of our 3 children) and I agreed on this...
The goal of parenting is to make yourself unnecessary.
No, I grew up in a time where everyone just let their kids play outside until the streetlights came on. I suppose a lot of the things we did I would not want my own kids to do it.
Thankfully I did not, but I knew plenty of people who were (including two virgins I dated in my 20's... no, not at the same time)
What are these things "over protective" or "parents"? I think I've heard these words before but I'm not quite sure what they mean...
Sincerely,
Gen X
No, but my brother and sis in law are raising their son, my nephew that way and it's doing more harm than good, and they can't see it
Ummm 555 absolutely not , the opposite..
Helicopter parents assist noone.
I'm a 90s kid our parents just let us run free like wild animals.
Try being the only child of a stay at home Jewish mom.
My big brother beat the shit out of people that werent even bullying me just in case. He was the best.
No siblings and parents gave me too much freedom.
Not really, my brother is younger than me, and my father was kinda neglecting me.
Only my mom cared about me.
Nope.
Yeah I had protective parents growing up

I was the overly protective brother.
