Was this girl overreacting over a suicide joke?

When i was in 8th grade back in 08-09, there was this really popular YouTube channel. Called ninja haggi or something. They just did funny skits. I was in track at the time. There was a girl who would come over from the highschool or soemthing to help the coach. So there was a video on this YouTube channel where they made fun of emos. There was a scene where this guy was pretending to cut himself with a knife, and he said "it hurts so good!", so the kid was reanacting it. The girl that came from the highschool walked up. She raised her voice. She went on a short lecture. I can't remember exactly what she said but at the end she was like "suicide is not funny!". We just all stood there awkwardly. All these years i thought she was overreacting, but honestly, suicide isn't something to joke about, and to make it worse, make she knew someone who died by suicide. What do you think?

Suicide is not funny.
However, humor is often a gateway to stressful subjects that we wouldn’t normally talk about. You can make a joke that is on topic, but doesn’t diminish the seriousness of an issue at all.

She's right. Suicide isn't funny.

You wouldn't laugh at deaf people, would you? Why laugh at people who are in so much pain that they want to end their life?

If inappropriateness is their best genre for content, it's a channel that isn't worth following.

Its never funny to joke about death. You might as well blurt TW before every word. You got to think about not the people who performed the act but the people that were left behind to feel it. Where one took away their pain, they shared and tripled it with everyone they knew
