Is it a problem to unfollow your sibling on Instagram?

My brother and I aren't on good terms right now. He's a jealous person, and we haven't been talking since I distanced myself from him. He started to become inquisitive when I started university, so I distanced myself from him. He was added on social media but we weren't talking, so I removed him. My little brother too My reason for unfollowing is valid, but could it be misunderstood and cause a problem? What would you do in this situation? I'm someone who sets firm boundaries, but my siblings aren't used to that. I don't think they'll mind, but they might think I'm sulking. But all I'm doing is keeping my distance. I've been thinking about this a lot. Someone from the outside could guide me better. What are your suggestions :/

You probably should’ve taken all this into consideration before unfollowing, now it’s already done. If your reasons are valid then just stand on that and go about your life until (or if) this gets addressed. No use going over the what ifs in hindsight.

What if I create a new account and add them from there? I was already thinking of closing my current account anyway. Will this resolve the misunderstanding?

How’s it a misunderstanding if you said your reasons are valid? You want to make a new account to make them believe you didn’t delete them, which to me is counterproductive. There’s an issue at hand that clearly needs to be addressed if you felt so strongly about it you had to delete them. Pretending it didn’t happen is a cope out in my opinion.

I just don't want any problems to arise at home; I'm at university right now. And I don't want a chaotic situation to arise when I return to the family home. I haven't stopped talking to them, I'm just keeping my distance now and not including them in my life. I also unfollowed my little brother because I misunderstood him. Just having problems with someone stresses me out. My older brother already thinks I'm going to ruin my life because I'm in college. So removing her from Instagram might make it seem like there's some kind of mystery surrounding it 😕 ( Not my older brother, but my older sister. )

She even asked me if I was going to get pregnant when I went to university because of her own insecurities (a friend of hers had experienced this). It hurt me that she said that, it's very rude and it's reason enough to end the relationship in itself, but I don't know why I'm blaming myself right now.

Unless deleting them was some sort of impulsive, heat-of-the-moment decision then you had to have taken all this into consideration beforehand and still decided that deletion was the best choice. In my opinion you should take ownership of this decision and why you did it, because trying to erase it doesn’t fix the bigger issue.

I think that you should just let it go for now and don’t address it unless they ask. Explain that part of the reason was because you weren’t interacting with any of them on there, but also other elements too and talk about it. If they aren’t receptive and instead argumentative and don’t care to hear your side then that’s their choice, but you’ve made yours.

I think it’s important to protect your peace at all costs, and sometimes that comes with cutting people off even when it’s family. No that’s not an easy decision, I mean even standing up for yourself requires stepping out of your comfort zone in a way you aren’t used to. I’m sure you’re like many of us who don’t like confrontation, but sometimes you can’t avoid it and trying to do so will only harm you. If you’re a soft spoken woman then you need people who will let you be heard.
