Did you ever do the Mararena?

It came out in 1993 but they played it at our wedding reception in 1996 and everybody - kids and old people alike - joined in. I think it is still popular in certain settings like cruises and parties.

No. I don't hate it, but i don't mimic. In my view, the more you mimic others the less you create of your own. Plus our movements are supposed to reflect our inner world. But music dances reflect something external: music. there's something dangerous about when people have one mood, but music is different, and the body follows the music, abandoning the soul.

I never thought of this but maybe the only good dances are those with zero music. They are the byproduct of the soul. And i cannot even imagine how they look. But all i know is that i don't want my actions to be guided by acoustic waves like i am a gps drone.

Let's apply this same logic to our social behavior. If your behavior merely responds to external stimuli, there's no sincerity, no love, and high risk of escalating any and every conflict you ever face.

I don't know, there are many, many, many pleasant social group activities we can do. Erasing our differences (even for a minute) is not my flavor. I prefer activities that allow us to show off our uniqueness. ㅤ

Against my more usual Rock &Roll senses, I did find the macarena to be darned catchy.

Though I never danced the macarena in public, even at my 1994 wedding, I'd bop along to it if I happened to hear it wherever I might have been.

I was in Tennessee in 1993 so I missed out on learning how to do this dance.

I love to dance and I am sure that I would have learned how to do it if I knew that it existed.

All good... but I rather do the Macarena and other up beat songs for kids to dance to to get their jitters out between classes. That's more fun than asking Kindergarten kids to do yoga posts 3 times a day.
