Have you ever raced someone to a hospital?

My friend accidentally sliced his palm open, made a tourniquet with my shirt and raced him to the hospital on rainy roads, no glasses and 6pm traffic one hand on the wheel, the other hand holding a makeshift tourniquet in place. Did a 15 minute drive in 7 minutes. Never seen so much blood in my life. His car is fucked. Our clothes are fucked. The nurse said if we waited for the ambulance he would have passed out or worse.

Kid needed over 20 stitches. I've known him since I was 5. At least we made it back in time to see the basketball game.

Anyone know about hand injuries? The doctor did a pretty shitty job stitching up the base of his palm. I'm trying to get him to see a hand specialist tomorrow.

I've been the one raced to the hospital, before, but I've never had to drive anyone else, fortunately.

Incidentally, mine was a hand injury, too. I still remember my dad doing like 100mph in his shitty old Plymouth Horizon, while I bled all over the back seat, lol. I'm surprised that car didn't explode.

That’s not really a thing here. You call an ambulance. It only costs ten Euros and in really drastic situations they send it with a full MD on board, not just medics.

They can stitch a person up in an ambulance in Germany? Lol if there was anywhere that could I guess that would be the place.

In a life-threatening condition the MD would, but as you described it, the medics would have securely bandaged it and en route to the hospital activated a specialized hand surgeon.

I see, they don't carry sutures in American ambulances standard. He's not going to get to see a specialist till Monday. I guess that's the price you pay for living in America.

I would argue the literal prices for living in mighty morphin' 'Murrica are $4000 for an ambulance ride, $2000 for an ER treatment and $4000 for the specialized hand surgeon. But hey, you saved the money for the ambulance! :-)

It wasn't about money though lol. The nurse said it was the right call not to wait. if you have insurance here it's between &5-50 when I used to have it it was free to get picked up when I dislocated my hip
