How many siblings do you have and are you close to them?

I always find it sad when I hear that people don't have a great relationship to their siblings. Sometimes it's just the age difference, sometimes there's more to it.

I have one older brother and fortunately we are very close. We are like best friends, we're always there for each other, we can talk about anything and everything, we hang out a lot, share the same friend circle and do many activities together.

If you aren't close, what's the main reason?

I was the youngest of 2 older brothers and I was pretty close to both of them unfortunately I lost my oldest brother 4 years ago , but my other brother is still alive and him and I are very close , he is not only my brother but my best friend , we don’t get to see each other that often because we live 5 hours apart , but we talk every weekend , usually Fridays or Saturdays and we will talk and have a few drinks with each other over the phone and laugh our asses off , My ex hated that my brother and I would have a night of talking over the phone , which blew my mind considering I didn’t get to see him on a regular basis but since it wasn’t about her , she would be locks a bitch about it , I had plenty of arguments with her over it , and told her straight out that she has issues , her brother lives close to us , so she was able to see him a lot , also my ex would talk to her girlfriend for long hours at a time and I never said a word about it , I would just shake my head that she was an asshole. Another reason she became my ex.

I have one sister, and our relationship would not make you happy.

I despise her, and I have since I was a little kid. I haven't even seen her in about 25 years, and I wouldn't care if I never saw her again.

She's older than me, and made my life a living hell when we were younger. More than anything, I wished I was an only child. She tormented me, treated me like shit, and since my parents favored her, she would always blame everything on me, which they believed, every time.

The number of times I got punished for the things she did made me extremely bitter and resentful, to the point where I finally just attacked her one day out of sheer rage and frustration.

When my parents got divorced, I begged the court to let me live with my father, just to get the fuck away from her, and the nightmare she turned my life into.

My brother is 2 1/2 years younger than me. I wish I could call him my little brother but he towers over me. We got along ok for the most part when we were growing up, not super close, but we never had any drama between us, nothing more than the usual fights you get in with your siblings. I think we're closer as adults now and we help out with each other's kids and we see each other regularly, and both our parents and us all live within about 15 minutes of each other so it's easy.

4 other siblings , not particularly close , but not excommunicated or anything like that , main reason is age , then locations , I'm the youngest by 8 years , I did go back to Australia and when there attended my brother's 80th , he has now just turned 81 and I called him for that milestone..

None of them are very tech orientated ( opposite sadly ) so it makes vid calls tough , but I set him up on Whattsapp when I was back and made sure he got a new phone , so that works.

My sister's ( 3 ) they just don't want to know , so I email one ( she answers like an SMS , too fast ) and occasionally make a standard call using Yolla or the like.

I have to brothers.. older by five years and younger by three

and yeah... I wasn't as close to my older brother because he always preferred to be out and away with friends of him that were his age or older than him, so... we never really developed that kind of closeness as brothers and in contrast... I grew up way closer to my younger brother and we were like friends most of the time (except when I used to annoy the hell out of him, lmao...)

that's how we grew up, but we didn't end up like that... and by that I mean, we all ended up being closer as a adults, we all get along very well and we all meet from time to time, with my parents as well

@lilBigPotato Had one brother, now deceased, (cancer) and we stayed in touch over many years even though far apart. (Atlanta vs California) Of course, when he was dying, we became closer (sadly it took death to bring that)

My brother works for me sometime and once a month comes to live with me for a day or two with him and his girlfriend have an argument

I have an older sister. Yes, I am close with her. Not as much as I used to be. I am at school most of the year and she doesn’t live at home anymore. So, we see each other a lot more infrequent.

I have a twin brother and he’s basically the only family I have left. We rent a house together and argue a bit, but nothing serious. He’s the only person I can always depend on to be there for me.
