Half Asian Babies?

My boyfriend is white, I'm asian. he says he doesn't want to have a baby with me because the baby will have black hair. we've been together for a year and are engaged. would you deem that as racist or just his saying what's on his mind. I told him the baby will have brown hair, but he doesn't believe me.

That's messed up. Sooo basically he's really saying he'll date you and have fun with you now, but he doesn't want to have kids by you because they won't look how he wants them to (more white). I would have to rethink a lot of things to be honest. That's kind of why I'm personally a little iffy about ever getting into an interracial relationship because there are a lot of guys who think it's okay to want to mess around and date different races of girls but eventually they want to end up with someone of their own. Not saying that's the case for your particular guy, but I have heard stuff like that.

I'm assuming your hair is black right? Black hair is dominant so it's likely that your future child would either have black or dark brown hair. Why does the hair color matter so much to him anyway? Did he ever think about that before he started dating a girl who had black hair? That's just stupid.

I know. it seriously hurt me because uh we're serious right now hence we're engaged but I guess I have to rethink things.

Were you two planning on babies when you got engaged? And if yes, he must have known there was the possibility that your baby or babies will have black hair. Why didn't he say anything before?

If your hair is black and his hair is brown, then you can't guarantee that your child's hair is going to be brown.

Secondly, WHY does it matter what color the baby's hair is? You're supposed to love your child no matter what he/she looks like. Are you sure he is ready for marriage? His maturity level seems quite inadequate.

I'd be terribly offended if I were you. I'd even reconsider the engagement.

I didn't know what to say either. I was pretty numb. he's blond. and I would assume blond + black would = brown. but I haven't talked to him in a week.

I am afraid that is not how genetics work. You don't mix the two hair colors together. We don't know whose dominant traits will carry through.

But in any case, the point here is, it shouldn't matter. Is hair color really the issue here? Or does he have something else on his mind? Honestly, he does not sound very mature to me and while I don't know him, if what you say is true, then I seriously doubt he is ready for marriage.

Actually, it IS possible for the child to have brown hair because hair doesn't have a dominant allele, it has multiple alleles which are not just colors, but different shades of colors. Though, it is not likely that the child will have brown hair. Anyways, if your fiance doesn't want to have a kid, there isn't much you can do, it's not like you can rape him or anything. You COULD tell him you are on the pill and not actually be on the pill, but don't do that because that's a horrible idea.

Ummm...your boyfriend sounds very immature. There's actually a very high chance that if you two have a baby the baby's hair will be black, because black hair is a dominant trait. Pretty much anything dark (dark hair, eyes, and skin) is dominant. Black + Blond doesn't always = blond so you can toss that idea aside. However, there is a small chance the baby will have brown hair, and an even smaller chance of the baby having blond hair (Devon Aoki's natural hair color is blondish).

He's not really being racist by saying that but he is being ignorant and he currently seems unfit to be a father. Or maybe this is his way of saying that he doesn't want kids.

NO I said it would be black+blond=brown, obviously not blond. but I know cause I have a half asian friend so I doubt our babies would ever have blond hair.

Hey, I know what you said. I was just stating that there is a chance that the baby could end up with either color, but most likely black.

I'm half asian and any mixed child always ends up beautiful. (not saying I'm beautiful) My dad has brown hair and my mom, obviously black since she's filipino. Mine and my sister's hair, turned out to be light brown (I dye my hair black, cause it looks better) and two brothers, their hair turned out dark dark brown. If he doesn't want to have baby with you and you do, then obviously he's not the person for you. What's wrong with black hair anwyays?

Black hair? are you serious, since when does hair color matter? he should be concernced that your baby just comes out healthy, there are more serious matters to think about rather than hair color. I agree with the others, he's immature and not ready to be a father or a husband. he had to have been joking, there is NO way he was serious...if he was you guys really need to talk about your future together. I wouldn't necessarily call it racist though.
