I have a friend that is having to stay with an abusing husband because she has no place to go. She can’t go back to parents and has no friends to stay with.

She makes $23/hr, has car payments, two kids and she can’t afford her own apartment. This is ridiculous. She has a degree and should be able to afford her own place and car. I make a similar salary and I’m having to rent a room for $450/month. That is only one room to myself.

They haven't done anything or said anything wrong to you. They have a normal voice And you just can't figure it out but for some reason you do not like this person.

I grew up poor lol. Like getting our electric/hot water shut off, not being able to afford food, type of poor 🙃

my mom has always been selfless though. Even though she didn’t have much, she wouldn’t hesitate to give me her last $20 so I could go out with friends.

I want to provide my daughter the childhood I didn’t have. I don’t need to be filthy rich or anything but I at least want to be one of those parents who surprise their kid with a car on their 16th birthday. Yanno? 😭

I’ve seen parents have this stupid ass mentality where they say “well I struggled as a kid so my kid should know what it’s like to struggle too” why would you wish that on your kid? 😭 I don’t want her to be a spoiled brat but I want her to be comfortable. She shouldn’t know what it’s like to get your hot water shut off and have to get a job at 16 to provide for the house, like I did 🥴

I'm asking because I'm not a father but my sister was saying how she'd much rather have done what my dad did than even raise one child. I completely disagree. I'm not a parent but I feel like even 60 hours at something I hate on behalf of my family is harder than raising 2 children I love. I do recognize that raising kids is like a job without pay, but you have food and shelter and more because your spouse loves you. Is that security not enough? Do you feel like you need luxury because of all that you do at home? After work, it's not like one person is doing everything although there is one primary homemaker.

Please share if you have experience. I'm not saying either is easy. I'm not saying either should be disrespected. I'm just saying that it feels like to me that people should be happy to be spending time with their children and should respect that someone else is willing to do something he/she hates to feed the family.

I really am open to hearing opinions though. Maybe I'm missing something. I love my sister too by the way but I just feel like she's disrespecting my dad by saying this. At one point, he actually worked without a day off for over a year, 85 hours/week, and they actually had 6 kids together. by the way I absolutely love my mom. She's my hero and she kept our family together, and my dad actually is far from the coolest person in the world but I still recognize what he did for our family.

Just in case you're wondering why I didn't use the numbers 85 hours and 6 kids, it's because those numbers are difficult for people to comprehend. Also, I'm thinking about my future, and I don't plan to have 6 kids or work 85 hours/week

You’re depriving your child of the best possible start in life because you personally want a kid and are going to cheat them out of having a mother and a father ultimately stunting their development

This person claims to be my best friend but they haven’t spoken to me for months and they’ve been really hostile towards me in indirect ways. For example I told them this person was abusive towards me and when the abusive person sent them a friend request on social media = they readily accepted it. When my team won the Super Bowl they were out drinking and they told me to go out by myself to drink and I said I didn’t want to and they were pleading with me to do it when I didn’t want to do it. They’ve laughed at me a few times and when I talk and mispronounced a few words they correct me on the pronunciation

When I tell them about my problems they start saying their opinion of what’s going on instead of listening to what I say. What do you think? Should I stop associating with them? Would you?

A relative has turned down countless job opportunities and says he’s going to be a currency trader or something like that online but he’s always just earned a meagre income from doing this letter writing work online. I had a job lined up for him with a company down the road which was his dream career but he turned it down and I didn’t push the issue any further but I found it strange - why turn down a job you’d like to do for no good reason?

He refuses to apply for social security payments and when I ask him to contribute around the house he refuses. He washes his own dishes but refuses to wash other people’s dishes even though other household members often wash his

He refuses to even get an iPhone and pay for Uber eats things for himself. He also constantly complains about every little thing and at any chance he gets he talks fondly of high school. He refuses to seek support for his anxiety and instead tells me about his problems even though I don’t want to hear it. If I say please don’t tell me your problems - he becomes argumentative and says “well I don’t wanna hear yours!” And starts swearing

he's had multiple opportunities to seek support and do things like the job I mentioned before but he turns them down. He spends most of the time in his bedroom. When he uses the shower he spends a long time like 20 mins in there with the door locked

sometimes I wake up early and I cough a little and I hear him sighing and complaining about me coughing under his breath

he is extremely religious and if I say something which he thinks is critiquing the religion he starts shouting at me and tells me to not blaspheme his LORD and things like this but he can belittle my political beliefs as much as he likes and I say nothing

Is he selfish and is what he is doing to me bad? Thanks
