Get Your Eye Make-Up Right

If you are new to the world of make-up or wondering about eye make-up looks, it can be very frustrating trying to achieve the look you want from a magazine or a YT tutorial especially if you don't know how to work the shape of your particular eyes.

Every make-up look will not automatically work for you even if you know the right technique because the final look depends on both your skill and more specifically, in this case, the shape of your eyes.

Please be aware of this fact because it will save you quite the bit of trouble down the road as you try to achieve specific looks. This is not to say you can't get that cute smokey eye, it's to say, you should look to those who have your same eye shape when trying to master the skill because in the case of say a hooded eye, you may be wasting a lot of make-up filling in areas that your eyelid is just going to cover up anyway.

So what is your particular eye shape?

Pay particular attention if you have downturned, hooded, or monolid eyes because the folds on top of your eyes or lack thereof, affect the way make-up will show up on your face. For example, if you have a monolid, lining your eyes with a thin rim of eyeliner is going to do very little for you with opening up the eye or giving the illusion of a crease vs. someone with almond shaped eyes who can draw liner straight across and it looks dramatic.

I highly suggest with all make-up looks of any type, that you follow individuals, IG, youTube videos, and tips for those with your same face/lips/eye/nose shapes and skin color for whatever it is you are working on. Not only will the products be more tailored towards your specific needs, but you will get a more realistic view of what the final look, will look like on you.

these pics looks pretty wrong to me. wrong representation. megan fox doesn't llok like to have deep set. kesha doesn't have protruding eyes and katy perry doesn't have downturned eyes

Fox very much has deep set eyes. They are pushed back further in her sockets. The girl next door to her (who by the way is not Kesha), Nicole Richie has the opposite which is her eyes come out further from her sockets. As far as Perry, the whole point of this is to talk about make-up that makes it work for a persons eye shape, and she's definitely doing a good job if you think she doesn't have down turned eyes. Probably best to see her without make-up.

There are of course variations on the spectrum with all the eye shape types. Some people you will see slightly protruding eyes, or a bit of a lid, or eyes a little closer together and then you'll have people on the extreme where eyes are literally bulging out or it looks like someone pulled their eyes up all the way, or they just have tiny eyes.
