Eyelash Extensions: The Informative and the Instructive

Eyelash extensions: "...you essentially get synthetic eyelashes semi-permanently glued onto your real eyelashes."

Eyelash Extensions: The Informative and the Instructive

Informative:

a) The individual lashes or the cluster of lashes are glued onto your own lash (near the base of the lash)- not onto the skin of your lashes - this minimizes the allergy potential for the glue.

b) There are different kinds of lash extensions - they vary from the material they're made out of, the length, the curl type and the number of lashes on one extension - from one to three.

c) They will usually last from 2 weeks to a month - depending on how long it takes your natural lashes to fall off. They will fall off with your natural lash.

d) IF they fall out without your natural lash - it means you're either not taking care of them properly or you've been going to a bad eyelash technician who's using a bad technique, bad glue or both...

Instructive:

a) Research your eyelash technician and the salon you're going to. Research the prices and go with the word of mouth on this one - just because they're most expensive doesn't mean they're the best.

b) If your technician wants to give you exactly what you want, and not what would look and feel best to you and your eye type - it's maybe time to reconsider...

c) Wash your eyelashes with a very mild eyelash shampoo or Johnson baby shampoo - don't put it directly on your lashes, but make it foamy and extra light before applying it to your lashes.

d) Comb your lashes at least once a day - preferably right after washing them so they dry in the best positioning.

e) Avoid any oil contact to your eyelash extensions - oil makes the glue disintegrate - same goes for hair shampoo or conditioner --- it'll loosen the glue...which is not something you want.
