I wear makeup for myself

I’m tired of being told that women who wear makeup are insecure, looking for attention, trying to impress men, etc.

I’ve been called shallow, narcissistic, “plastic,” “fake,” a “princess” because of the fact that I wear makeup everyday, dress nicely, talk about my weight loss, and post pics of myself on social media. Yes, I take care of myself, I’m a girly girl (one who enjoys watching pro wrestling, but I digress), I wear makeup, and I try to look my best, but really, what’s so terrible about that?

You should love the way you look, but at the same time why not enhance what you already have, why not wear beautiful things if you want to?

I’ve never put anyone down for the way they look, and I don’t judge other women because of the way they dress, or whether they wear makeup or not.

For the record, lots of girls, including me, wear makeup and experiment with it for ourselves, because we enjoy it. It’s not because we hate the way we look without it or lack confidence. I don’t call myself a makeup artist by any means, but it’s become a hobby for me, an artistic, creative outlet, as the job I have really doesn’t allow for any creativity.

If my posts and pictures offend you, then you’re free to unfriend or unfollow me, you don’t owe me anything. Or just scroll on past and don’t look at my stuff. Some may call me high maintenance, but as far as I’m concerned, taking care of yourself and your appearance isn’t something to be ashamed of.

I know I’m going off on a bit of a tangent here, but I’ll never apologize for being who I am.

You don't wear it for yourself. You wear it for the others to see and find you pretty, which will then make you feel better about yourself.
If everyone finds you ugly with makeup, you'll stop wearing it. Simple as that.
It's not a critic, it's a simple truth. We're a social species, and it's understandable to do something so other people like you in some way.
That take is the proof of that. You problem is that people don't like it when you wear makeup, they find it fake. What bothers you is other people's opinion. You're annoyed because you want them to like how you look with your makeup.
If you were really wearing makeup only for yourself, their opinion wouldn't matter, especially on how you look, since you'd care only about how much you like your look. But it does. Again, not a critic, just a simple statement.

Nah girls wear makeup to impress everyone and look pretty and fit in. Not just boys, it’s a competition between girls, don’t lie about that lol

I consider myself girly girly but I don't wear makeup. I find it offensive when people say wearing makeup means taking care of yourself.
I take care of myself by eating right and living a healthy smoke, alcohol and drug including sugar free lifestyle. I get my 8 hours of sleep. I exercise. Its a very hard lifestyle to maintain 24/7. But thats how I achieve my no makeup look.

I don't care if you wear nude or purple lipstick. I used to wear makeup. To me its very self destructive as makeup to self esteem and the skin (pores on skin aren't meant to be covered). Its expensive. Waste of time. It can be deceptive. As a child I always thought women were so pretty naturally and I was very ugly. I realised it was the aid of makeup. Im sure other little girls out there that feel same.
Then on top of that I got labelled as so or average or plain or okay because I'm always compared to a woman who wears makeup.

Personally I don't care anymore that was my perspective and be happy and ignore other people. We are all on same boat of unhappiness no matter what we do.

I have to call bullshit, if everyone hated it you wouldn't do it. Thats just a simple fact. Also, there are hardwired sexual underlinings to makeup that is interesting to read about. I first heard it from Psychologist Dr. Peterson, you should check it out.
