I'm a sixteen year old girl and I wear makeup almost every day. I wear it most of the time to go to school and on weekends if I'm going somewhere. On Sundays I don't because I want to do something good for my skin.
I'm always told that I don't need to wear makeup, that I'm pretty without it (I appreciate the compliment though), that I waste so much money and time on it. I'm asked why I'm doing it if I'm not going to do anything special.
Here is what I have to say:
I LOVE makeup. It's FUN to experiment with colors, finishes and techniques, and just like someone would splurge on an instrument or an expensive meal, I splurge on makeup. It's a form of self expression and a way to show uniqueness and who you are. And no, I don't wear it to impress any guy, or anyone really. I doubt most people will appreciate my brow bone highlight or my blended contour. But I do, and I look in the mirror and say wow. I like myself without it but wearing it just gives me that extra confidence, like a pair of great fitting pants. I don't tell you what you should and shouldn't do so please don't tell me.
