I don't personally think celebrities are a good representation of general beauty among women in a country. Actresses and singers look a bit the same everywhere you go.
I do find some French girls pretty but I personally find German girls much cuter. We have a lot of Germans at my university and there are many cute girls among them. I also think non-Europeans tend to romanticize France and everything related to it a little too much.
