When I was younger those were just normal length shorts. Although almost all of them were cutoff jeans, not store bought. That was true of both guys and girls. I hate the long "shorts" that are sold today for guys. Pants that come to the knees are not "shorts".
To directly answer the question. To me those are not mini. They are just regular shorts, and I don't think anything of it.
there's a HUGE difference between the first two pairs and the others. the first two i think are screaming for attention and not really the good type. i would disappointed with my wife for wearing them because it sends a very distinct message.

My girlfriend normally wear as well her mom too but my girlfriend wear more shorter and figure hugging because there's country climate and normality.

My rule of thumb is never wear shorts wider than they are long. Squarish. I have a small butt so I can "look good", at least that is what others tell me. But I wear them to look good for my man. Not for others.
