What exactly are lesbian shoes?

One of my friends told me that those shoes I wanted to buy look like lesbian shoes.
I appreciate her honesty, but don't see it myself... [I'm still getting them... xD]

What - to you - are lesbian shoes? Pictures would be appreciated! =)

These are the shoes I like:

  • Birkenstocks and loafers are what I think of when I hear "lesbian shoes"

Who cares though, if you like the look then go for it 😊

  • There are no such things. What you wear does not dictate what you love.

  • I don't think I've ever even looked at a woman's shoes. They're shoes. Wear what you want.

  • There's a perception out there that lesbians tend to dress less feminine and more masculine than men, it does seem to be mostly true but not as a rule and lesbians being like all women like to play with their look. Lesbians also have a stereotype for having traditionally manly or "butch" looking haircuts that make them look like boys. My girlfriend recently got a haircut like this for a wedding, she has changed hair dressers since. Ellen Page is the perfect example of stereotypical lesbian fashion though she dresses more feminine too.

  • In this case, your friend refers to shoes that are a female version of a traditionally male model. There is no such thing as "lesbian shoes" but lesbians are stereotyped to wear more masculine looking clothes.

  • I have the same shoes i black. :) I got a similar comment of few of my friends when I got them.
I think your friend meant they're kinda manly - not the typical cute or high heel shoes.

    • The color is a big part of it, actually. Women wear black oxford/derby shoes all the time. Chili / walnut colored ones (like in the pic), not so much ahah

  • Actually, I 'm eyeing the same shoes, but heeled or partly transparent.

Anyway, your friend said they are lesbian shoes because they are masculine. But women can wear most of what men wear, with looks such as androgynous or garconne, without this making them lesbians
