Should I wear glasses or contact lenses on a first date?

Question

I usually wear my glasses in everyday life because they are more comfy (contact lenses hurt my eyes and I only wear them on special occasions), however people tell me I look way prettier without glasses and that glasses make me look kinda dorky/nerdy.

I've never met this guy in real life and he has only seen pics of me without glasses and I'm afraid he might be shocked or that there won't be a second date if I wear my glasses
What do you suggest? Should I also wear a bit of mascara, lipstick and eyeshadow?

Just be you. I went on a date with a guy I had only really talked to. There were a few pics on my online profile but that’s it. I wore my contacts around him a bunch and then one night my contacts were bothering me so I took them out and put on my glasses. All he said was hey you wear contacts? My sister does too. He doesn’t care about glasses vs contacts. If your guy is a good guy he’ll like you not your looks. I dont ever wear makeup either.

by the way what’s the deal with contacts? Some people can wear them for a month or more straight. Seems like 5 hrs after I put mine in they are uncomfortable/dry. I’ve tried eyedrops and different brands.

I think you should do whatever YOU are comfortable with. If you prefer glasses, then wear glasses. I'm sure you don't want to spend the whole date with painful, uncomfortable eyes. I also don't think you should worry about looking "nerdy." If the guy can't handle that you need glasses to see comfortably and he gets THAT turned off by it, then he isn't the right guy for you anyway.

As for the makeup, again, wear it if you want to. I understand wanting to look your best on a date but if you aren't comfortable then I don't think it's worth it. So, it ultimately just depends on what feels best for you. :)

As someone who loved my glasses and hates my contacts id say wear your glasses. No ones has time to be feeling eye pain during a first date which is stress in itself. Maybe you should send him a picture with you wearing your glasses. Maybe you can just "surprise" him and that can be a conversation stater. Its your decision but if it were me id wear my glasses reguardless of what stereotype glasses carry

Glasses. If that person really hates glasses enough that it's a dealbreaker, you don't want to find out about that on the second date but on the first.

You want them to fall for YOU, not for a version of you that you can't keep up in the long run.

Also, glasses can be cute!

As per my view my you should act as you are.
Take my case during my engineering time there was the huge trend of eye lenses, so I also took one and used to go for special occasions wearing that but it hurts my eyes a lot, everytime i used to feel there is some dust. So I left wearing that and also as per my friends view I look better in glasses.

So be original, if he will be interested then it's gud otherwise let him go, why do you care. If you are a good person then you will get a better one.

And according to me a girl looks something different when they wear glasses. So clean your glasses and enjoy your date.

I don't think I've heard of a guy rejecting a girl for wearing glasses. I don't think it's a big deal. If anything, I think that virtually all guys are split between those who don't care either way, and those who find glasses attractive.

I say go with whichever you're more comfortable with. If it's glasses he should realize that you also wear lenses. If you go with lenses, just bring it up. If he rejects you ONLY because you wear glasses or lenses, trust me, you're better off, and would make him a dumbass.

Trust me. You're going out on a date. It's not like you're applying to become a fighter pilot.

My opinion would be glasses or not glasses it depends on u. If u feel confident and good looking in wearing any type of accessories u should go right ahead... similar is my opinion with makeup... If u feel good wearing makeup do it and if u feel natural is better do that...
I think if u feel confident in doing something u should do that cause I have always felt that people mostly reflect others..
And if u think someone don't like how u look don't mind it cause it's ur life and u should be the one to judge urself not others...

I'd say wear the contact lenses, and if you like the guy, tell him that you only wear them on special occasions and it will probably make him feel special as a result. I'd tell him, though. I wear contacts every day but I've worn them for so many years that I just joke about my eyesight being awful.
Also if people go out of their way to tell you that you don't look pretty in glasses, than they're jerks js

My ex did not wear her glasses till 4 months in. She surprised the heck out of me when she got into my car and I did not recognize her when I looked up from my phone.
Her glasses were not flattering at all. :( I'm sure yours are nice though.
