I'm natural, to be honest I do not like braids, weaves, or wigs. I've seen what it does to the hair of black women and it is just not good.
Our hair is extremely sensitive to heat and styling, and I've noticed a lot black women losing their hair to breakage due to over styling their hair so much and braids and weave seem to be the main culprit.
It's just not good for our hair, it puts so much tension on the root of your hair and weakens the hair after a wile that eventually the hair follicle will pop out the scalp or break.
I see so many beautiful black women going prematurely bald due to this and the sad thing is a lot of them don't know cause they have grown use to this type of abuse to their hair.
They don't notice that their edges are breaking or completely gone and destroyed, their not connected the dots but will keep going out and putting this fake hair in their heads to cover the baldness but don't realize they keep adding to the problem. I think the best thing to do is go natual, its healthier for our hair and it less stress but thats just my opinion.
I like box braids some times.. I prefer black hair for myself. I think it's ok to get any color you want... finding a color that pairs well with your skin tone will help.
As for as them being not good for our hair. It's just not true for everyone. The people who have issues may have had them too tight or just didn't take care of them.
Don't be terrified of them. Talk to your stylist. Don't be timid. Tell them about the sensitive areas of your head don't let them pull the edges too tight.
I'm gonna be honest, I now I'm bashing my own race but only black women can pull it off. When ever I see a white girl with box brides It makes be think of them trust fund baby's who go bag packing to "find them self" .
@Jayjoy Silly Jay, only white people can commit cultural appropriation, remember? *sarcasm*
BLACK PEOPLE CAN HAVE STRAIGHT HAIR TOO, JUST LIKE WHITE PEOPLE CAN HAVE CURLY HAIR
Sometimes looks amazing, sometimes it looks terrible.
The 1st and the last pic really work well, the middle two just don't.
Yeah, the middle two look ridiculous.
kind of gross, unless your undoing it before a shower and doing it up again, and assuming you take at least a daily shower. talk about a way to lock in odor, bacteria, and other things you like to generally wash off after taking a pee. also, unwashed hair starts to smell after a while... because it's dead... which is why there's fragrance in shampoo.
Not if ur black, it’s different for black people
If you're black, it looks great. If you're white and I see you witch box braids, I'm going to get up in your ass and smack the shit out of you.
Agreed

Ok if you're going on holiday or something but in general i don't like the look of them.
I think they're gorgeous, guys like the girl that wears them not necessarily the braids themselves. My hair changes all the time, braids, curly, straight. Some styles grab more attention than others BUT, mens attraction tends to be the same regardless of my hair style. I have no issue with non-black girls wearing box braids but they always look a bit weird in my opinion.
I love the look and my hair is plenty long enough for it. Unfortunately they just wouldn't look as tight and neat in my hair (I'm white with red hair) as they do in these pictures.
I think they are lovely on people of color. They are cultural appropriation on white girls. (We'll be ok, we have plenty of other ways we can do our hair than box braids.)
I whole heartedly agree with your first sentence. However, as far as cultural appropriation goes, America is a melting pot of cultural appropriation. I'm not crazy about that term. The way the left talks about it, it sounds like a bad thing to appreciate someone else's culture. Why can't it be celebrated instead of appropriated? Why can't we have cultural appreciation instead of cultural appropriation? Why must our cultures be segregated? From past experience segregation hasn't seemed to work so well. Maybe your experience has been different.
@Defboy69 My experience is that people of color are prevented from wearing box braids in many workplaces because they are told it's unprofessional, and what is considered more professional is to look more white/European by having straightened/relaxed hair.
I as a white person don't get to walk into that situation and say "Oh, it's all fine now because it's just me appreciating fashion."
Cultures can be appreciated, even shared, and I am not always sure the exact line where appreciation and sharing becomes white people taking ownership of something that doesn't belong to us, but there is a line somewhere, and occasionally I'm aware enough to tell where it is.
I wore my hair in dreads as an older child who couldn't manage her hair, and it snarls like dreads very easily. I don't wear my hair that way as an adult because I realize the cultural significance of dreadlocks, box braids, cornrows and other ethnic hairstyles over which people have faced discrimination...
I don't like them, it's a weird thing where if your with a girl you like you want to run your hand through their hair... box braids ruin that feeling because it makes the hair feel more coarse, and as a side effect I dislike them.
I like box braids I’ve had them a couple times , easy to manage. I think it depends on the person and their facial shape and also who is doing them.
Im not trying to be racist but it looks great only on black person
I think it only looks good on black girls. Not that I think white girls aren't allowed to wear them because of cultural appropriation or whatever but it somehow doesn't look good on them. You need thick hair for this or the edges look weird
on a black girl they're very pretty, white girl, um, not so much...
I LOVE them on black girls, especially in black or dark brown. On white people not so much, makes them look like trashy hood rats.
I really like them. I wear them myself a lot. I like the way they look, they help my hair grow faster and i don't have to comb out my full set of hair and struggle to get it in a bun every morning.
On black girls yes I like them on white girls I don't. I like light brown, auburn and black or dark brown
If you ain't black then dont wear these, doesn't look right
I was kinda thinking the same thing as I browsed the pictures. Not to sound racist, but the black young lady wore it best. Is it because she's more beautiful than the other models? Or does her beauty come from her hair? For the record, I think all the young ladies are beautiful, but the hair on the nonblack ladies just seems a little off.
On certain people it looks good. Most times I don't care for it though.
Don't like them. For a black girl it seems okay but if you have naturally straight hair it seems like a waste.
I like them , I don't think I can pull that off. I don't think it looks good on all face types , I have seen it looking brilliant for round face. I will go for Mahagony or chocolate brown colour.
I love box braid and i think most females can rock them rbh they just gotta know how but they do tend to look a bit better on my darker skinned females tho
I don't like that kind of style. Looks ugly. I like the fish braid though.
It looks good on the black girls in the pictures but the white girls can't pull it off and look ugly in it
they look gorgeous, but get a bad rep. i do like them, a lot.
I think they look pretty. Definitely with darker hair though
I do my own from time to time, so yes, I like them.
I think they are gorgeous depending on who it’s on and who can pull it off
They are cool if well kept, as for colour varies with the skin tone, my fav on a girl black mixed or just black
Hope I'm not insulting by saying I can't stand them! At least to me, they look dirty. If you like them though go for it!
Looks really nice on black girls. Looks just wrong on white girls.
Not everyone can pull it off but it works for some women
I like them, and it honestly depends on the girl in question as to the color
Depends on the individual chick. On black chicks, it almost always looks amazing. I find on most white chicks, it just doesn't work. Just my opinion
Its a preference thing. I prefer the straight natural look
I don't like em on guys or girls, just not my thing.
I like them. It depends more on the person they are attached to. It doesn't suit everyone.
I think it only looks good on certain people but if you like it then go for it. You do you!
I dont like a hole head of braids i prefer long soft hair
I like them on black girls
what the fuck is it? ;DDD
explain yourself sweetie ;DD
They look great on black girls.
Possible to work, but it’s rare. That kind of braid is poo. A big single one is the way to go.
it only looks good on a certain amount of people. others just shouldn't try it. it all has to do with face shape and head shape
I think the color depends very much on your complexion
I don't really like them but for a temporary change of look it would be fine
They're nice. Definitely not bad.
I don’t like it at all.
Eh, not really my thing. I prefer just real hair.
I dig the look of braids 👍🏾
I like them. They're cute.
I honestly don't like them at all
It’s pretty, and black or brown
I don't mind them. Usually they look good.
I love it wish my girl hair was like .
Not attractive to me.
No, not for me, thanks
I think they look lovely
They look cyberpunk, I like them.
What looks good on you
Like them a lot if the hair is natural
Blue without dreadlocks lol
They could be very cool
I love them😍😍
