Voted on behalf of my girlfriend - she is a big fan of visible chest hair on a guy. As long as the clothes are reasonably stylish and tasteful, she likes to see a bit of chest hair. (Although ironically, she also likes the look of a t-shirt underneath a regular shirt as well. Variety is the spice of life, I guess.)

That said, overall, my girlfriend likes a guy to be generally very hairy, but not quite to bear level. Luckily, I am naturally able to oblige with a fair amount of chest hair, leg and arm hair, armpits and pubes, of course, as well as a hairy a**.

In fact, since it seemed to be so popular, I one time shaved everything - armpits and pubes included - to surprise her. She was surprised all right. She hated it! She said that she wants her man to look like a man and not like a boy who has yet to experience puberty.

Lesson learned. What girlfriend wants, girlfriend gets. Besides, all that shaving was a lot of work and being hairless is not good for you anyhow.

So I will stay as I am and everyone is happy.

Yup, no complaints. Although lesson learned. Shaving the hair on my own body (which frankly, I would not want to do anyhow - it's a lot of work) is not my choice. I am not captain of my own ship. She who must be obeyed and all that, don't ya know.

I'm not attracted to guys, but the only time visible chest hair looks stupid is when a certain cliche' kind of guy in double knit slacks, wearing a gold medallion, has his pointy collared shirt unbuttoned half way down to his navel. Picture those "wild and crazy" guys or some Greek gigolo.

I don't like it but I also don't like when a man shave his chest either. I like a subtle spot of hair. I can tolerate guys who have chest hair similar to the picture of Zac effron below. In all though, it really doesn't matter, especially if it looks good on a guy.

My ex has a hairy chest he wore round neck tops and buttoned up his shirt to top for a more tailored look. That half button shirt and hairy chest has a seventies porn vibe to it.
