What do gymnasts wear under there leotards?

I was just curious as to what gymnasts wear under those tight outfits there wear cause I would imagine anything under there would be super uncomfortable but I don't know, so if any gymnasts could inform me of what you guys do wear then that would be much appreciated, thanks!!

For gymnast, both male and female, you can in fact face deductions for having your underwear show whether that's a bra strap or your underwear. Gymnasts must present a clean and polished look with both their hair and clothing, so it is of importance, especially on a professional level that one looks tidy from top to bottom (literally).

There are a few options for women and it really just depends on ones comfort level. You can wear a standard sports bra +high cut seamless brief or some leotards come with removable washable underwear liners, or you can wear a thong. Of course some do go commando but to avoid cold nips, one can wear petals which are just adhesive nipple covers.

For the men in competition its either a brief or a dance belt (which is just code for male thong with more support). To go commando for men is not really an option because you don't want anything *ahem* getting in the way, and it can look obscene with a camera pointed at you on national television.

Are you a gymnast yourself because you have a very in-depth answer, I was more intrigued by the females because those outfits are so tight so yeah it makes sense that they mostly do wear bras, what’s most common for under the crotch area?

Not a gymnast but I used to work in a dance shop. Whatever one wears just depends on what the wearer likes or is most comfortable for them.

I believe they just wear the leotard. They can’t do all those moves with hardware moving around.

Yeah some do, when I tried gymnastics I noticed most didn't. Some even went commando. The leotard is usually tight enough to hold everything in place. Honestly it's their personal preference though but just my observations

Nah man I was like 10-13 lol, some of them were as old as 18-20 and young as myself at the time
