I mean, it is the hair style that looks good on most people, but it is also the most boring and it lacks personality. I am tired of walking on the street and seeing groups of girls with plain long straight hair. They all blend in, none of them stands out.
Also, even though I have wavy hair, out of all the ways I could do my hair and look good, straightening it is one of the quickest. So no, it doesn't require that much effort. Doing it curly/wavy or doing a complicated braids takes a lot more time and sweat.
There are plenty of other ways a woman could do her hair, really. I heard that guys like running their fingers throught it... i don't spend time doing my hair so that someone can mess it up. And straight hair gets tangled too.
Why do people like plain straight hair over any other hair style?

It seems to be "the style" at the moment, though I've noticed the stick straight is going more by the wayside and wavy is becoming more common. I like all textures of hair though, they all fit different people and it's nice to have a variety. As someone with moderately curly hair, I've found myself wishing for straight, silky locks before, but end up loving the hair I have.
I have to disagree about the hands running through hair thing, though. I absolutely love it, and don't really care if it messes my hair up because it feels so nice, lol! I could probably pay someone to do that, I love it so much.

I'm not sure that's true for the majority of people. I've seen a lot of people on here among other Q&A sites saying they like braids or curls and whatnot. I personally prefer my hair to be wavy/curly, but it's naturally straight and in that state, it's the easiest to maintain and also shows off the full length which I like.

No, I do not like them, as almost every girl have have one...
Braids look lazy and fake to me.
Yes it takes ages to do it, but then it is same for years and not even washed in some cases and obviously it contains not only hair...
I like curly/wavy ones, not to much...
I totally forgot about dreads, and that is other think needs to be forgotten...
This is just my opinion and I'm not saying that anyone has to follow it or hate anybody because of it. Anybody can do whatever the f**k they want, as long as it is legal.
I feel attacked 😂 I would understand if this was a hairstyle that isn't natural but I have naturally straight hair and I find it boring and annoying so this really took a jab at me lol. If you're going to single out a characteristic and bash it don't choose something people have naturally it's a bit rude and ignorant in my opinion. I didn't choose to have this I'm just trying to live with it 😂😭 I finally got over having straight hair y'all I don't know how to feel. My depressing Asian hair doesn't do well with intricate styles and curls never last for even an hour so I guess I'll go die with my boring straight hair~
It is not about being born with it. Nobody is born with braids and updos... I am not necessary talking about sttaight vs curly. And I didn't say straight is ugly, just too common and simple, but how would you feel if you spent time doing a braid for example and someone told you your natural hair looks better? You clearly spent that time doing the braid thinking it is worth it, but to that person it is not.
You didn't criticize people with braids and updos and I didn't mention people being born with them so why bring that up. I defended what people are actually born with which is what you were criticizing. If someone told me they like natural hair better why should I care that's their opinion and I have my own as well. Just because it wasn't worth it to that person doesn't mean it wasn't worth it to me.
I brought that up because it wasn' a battle of straight vs curly. According to most people plain straight is the most beautiful, so basically trying anything else is quite a waste of time to them. That was why i brought this whole topic up. And I say plain straight because you can do those partial braids with straight hair if you paid attention. Look at that red head. So according to some she didn't have to try that cascade braid because her hair would have looked better without it.
Thank you for explaining why you brought that up but I still have no idea why because I never said this was about straight vs curly hair. Anyway I'm starting to feel this is a cultural difference because you're making it seem like EVERYONE around you prefers straight hair and for some reason you care a LOT about that. I'm not sure about you but where I'm from nobody gives a fuck about your hair? If a girl did some intricate braid instead of keeping her hair straight people would either compliment her or just ignore it.
I don’t know, I find it repulsive, and I don’t think it looks very good on anyone, especially if their hair is also very thin and doesn’t have any volume. My hair is naturally curly, and I’ve never willingly straightened it in my life. Even if I wanted to, it wouldn’t be easy for me at all because my hair is so thick and has so many layers to work through to get it to straighten and lie flat on my head. I go out with my hair looking the same way it does the minute I wake up in the mornings, and I think it looks better that way than anything I could style it into.
My hair is naturally ruler straight. I’m trying to grow it to be eve hair, so I don’t want to put any heat on it with curling irons. And using hair curlers is a hit or miss. So that’s why some of us do. I don’t really care if I blend in, I’m just tryna get this degree man.
Braids don't require heat. And the point was it is kinda insulting to people who spend time doing their hair to just prefer over that something plain that requires 0 to little effort to do.
I usually just put my hair in a topknot like in my profile pictures. I kid you not, I look so stupid in braids. Insulting? Your the one saying my hair is plain. and I do have to put in effort, putting in oils and cool blow drying it a certain way (I have really annoying cowlicks on the back of my head), so there isn’t 0 effort. Saying it is plain is not insulting. That is the truth, long straight hair is very common and unlike other hair style it is not muchto it. My hair gets frizzy if i don't use plenty of products too, I don't even blow dry it because that just make it freezy. My question was why people like it, tou didn't answer that. And i never said straight hair is ugly, i somretimes make mine straight too. However there are plenty of other ways you can style your hair, it just gets boring to see eveyone with the same hair.
Bro, my point was that, what someone does with their hair, should not be insulting to you. Here’s my answer, I don’t know. some people compliment my hair, some don’t. Maybe because it looks soft or healthy. I personally like really curly hair on women (like really curly) however it wouldn’t look so good on me. But some women I see with straight hair and I think “damn, she’s fine af”. I think people’s hair looks best when it fits their face, that’s my opinion.

Girl, I think your misunderstanding, I never said your insulted by straight hair. I’m saying if someone prefers something simple, it’s not insulting to people who prefer complex things, that’s childish. I can’t tell you why guys like it because I’m a women. I can only give an inside perspective of a women who wears her hair that way, that’s all. I’m pretty sure most guys don’t care how we wear are hair as long as we got pretty faces.
Because it's the best showcase of the hair's actual length, volume, health, and potential. When girls style their hair, they tease it, fluff it, and do all manner of things to it that creates illusions of greater volume, greater or lesser length, etc. or simply hides those features. I like long straight hair because it allows me to appreciate it fully without having to do calculations in my head. It's not about wanting to run my finger (s) through it (though I'd like to). For me, the easier it is to see the details about her hair, the more the girl stands out.
What is healthy about someone burning their hair to make it straight? Few people have naturally perfectly straight hair. Others will have to damage it to make it look that boring.
My opinion was actually made with the assumption that you wish girls with straight hair would change it because you think it's boring e. g. by burning their hair to make it curly (with a curling iron). My point was that straight hair is not boring (not to me at least) if that is your natural hair. Wavy and curly styles also have their merits, and can be quite beautiful. I'm not suggesting someone with hair that's naturally like that should straighten it. I simply think it's healthier if girls rocked their natural hair without tampering with it because they want curly hair instead of straight, or straight hair instead of curly.
This is also compared to vraids, buns, or any way you can put your hair. And it spunded ryde to say someone with non-straight hair doesn't look healthy. I mean, if a girl does a complicated braid or up-do and tou tell her you like plain straight hair more how will she feel_
My favourite hairstyle on a girl is when she just wears her hair down. I find the motion and overall look very beautiful. And yes, I like to admire the length as well. That doesn't mean the occasional braid, ponytail, or up-do isn't just as beautiful. It's just that I personally see that done all the time, and rarely see hair worn down (unless it's short). So braids, up-dos, ponytails have pretty much become as boring to me as hair worn down has become to you. I'd love a balance, or to see more styles similar to the second and third set of pictures you posted (partial braids). I never see those (except on TV, or online pictures).

I'd of course compliment her on the beautiful way she styled her hair. But if she always has her hair in a bun or braid, I'm going to express my opinion that I'd like to see her wear it down for a change.
most girls wear their hair down and straight on a daily basis, so no, braids and partial braids/updos are not that common. I personally prefer to mix all the styles, I don't always do my hair a certain way. Sometimes I wear it down, sometimes I straighten, sometimes I do a complicated braid. However I find it quite insulting for someone to say something that requires little effort and looks plain looks better than those braids/ updos/ half braid -half loose which are complex and require time and energy to do. I undersand why a girl would prefer something simple, because they know how difficult others are to do, but to say it looks better I don't understand. I do't think it looks bad, otherwise I wouldn't do mine like that ever, but I don't think it looks better than others. It is like a house without paintings and plants, it may be neat, but it lacks that something.
Also, my hair is long down my waist without straightening it, so unless the girl has very brittle hair that doesn't allow it to grow, I don't see why showing the actual length would be an argument.
If it's a style you spent a lot of time and effort to make, of course it's better than hair that's just been left down. But 10 to 20-second ponytails and buns are common where I live. Those are boring, and I much prefer loose hair to those. I already said that I never see partial braids. I think those are pretty and wish I saw them more. Since you like to mix up styles for your hair, I'm sure it's always lovely to look at. I like that. It's one of the awesome things about long hair.
I will confess that I personally don't like buns and updos as compared to braid styles, because I like to admire hair length. But that doesn't mean that I don't find the complex ones impressive.
Still, in my poll those partial braids were still not as prefered as plain straight. Got the idea? Look at all the hairstyle i included there, plain straight was the top choice
That mix of braid and loose wavy hair is very complicated to do. It takes a lot of time, at least 30 min to do for someone skilled. I say min 30. min because making hair this long wavy and braiding it takes time
I think I voted on that poll. I chose plain straight because I was taking effort and time into account, and I wanted to to indicate that plain straight is still pretty. I kinda have a fear that if girls feel obligated to do complex styles for their hair, they'll get fed up and decide to cut it short.
If a girl likes doing complex styles, I'd love that. But I don't want her to feel pressure to do them. Plain straight is a great alternative.

I always wondered that too just like I've seen girls with natural beautiful curly hair spending so much time damaging their hair with a straightener to have straight hair. Quite sad really. I have naturally curly hair and I've straighten them maybe twice in my life cause people kept annoying me and telling me I should try it. Hated it both times. My hair straight has no volume, no shape, no nothing. I definetely prefer them curly. And I get way more compliment with curly hair.

Depends on that person’s preference. Just because you might not have a straight hair doesn’t mean people don’t like you or considered to be an outcast. Every person on this earth 🌍 has come from all shapes and size. We just have to learn to practice self love and appreciate what we have :) It’s ur hair, do what makes u happy 😃. Sometimes sticking to the conformity is quite exhausting. Being different is good at most of the times ;)

Do they really? I think people like wavy hair the most. The reason why you see so many girls walking around with "boring" straight hair is because they have straight hair naturally and don't have so much time or money to fix it. Waves don't stay in the hair, especially when it has been washed. You have to use lots of hairspray to help it stay that way which dries out the hair.
I love all types of hair! I like my hair curly, though because when it’s straight it’s very thin, and I like my hair thick! I’m striving to go natural and stop using weaves and or flat ironing and just having a cute pouf with some chestnut highlights.
I've been wearing my hair straight lately. It's easier to manage, makes me look well put together, and it gives me a youthful yet mature look. I get that it can come across as boring but I don't mind right now. I wear a lot of jewelry, henna, and interesting outfits so I don't want to go too crazy with my hair otherwise it will look like I'm overdoing it. I had it wavy for most of the year last year. Sometimes I wear it curly.

I only have preference for long hair, majority of men prefer long hair. So long hair even plain would be better than trendy short hair.

@RedThread many people with curly or wavy hair straighten their hair at home with a blow-dry/ironing routine or they do to a salon and get their hair permanently straightened through rebonding or keratin treatment.

Guys say they like it because it’s more “natural”, but some girls have to spend hours doing a perfect straight haired style. To me it’s so basic and it’s on every girl. I think curly blown out hair is the best looking and makes a girl look much more gorgeous
Men like natural beauty. Not fake shit. I don't know how many times we have to tell you. Latest styles are dumb. Complicated hair styles are dumb. Tons of makeup looks like shit. Just focus on being healthy and sweet and dressing feminine but modest and most men will like you. But of course none of you will listen to me, a man. Smh.
I love long hair on women period. I love when it is braided. I understand it can take work to do it but im willing to learn to my braid my girl's hair. It would be like a ritual for me. 😎
Straight hair look really pretty. But not always I go for the straight hair look. I like to experiment with various hairstyles and braids when I have time.
I never really pay attention to the hair of a girl I'm interested in. If they like their hair, I like it. If you don't want to straighten your hair don't. Also, some people don't mind blending in.

Being dominican, i spent years straightening my hair as a child makes me wish it was naturally like that. That Asian girls hair is perfect I seriously think that dominicans are jealous of Asian women lol

I don't think I do, And its more comfortable sadly though my hair is thinning in the middle at 24 years old. And if ilet it grow out I look like curly from 3 stooges which is what I always hoped would never happen. I, ll shave it all before that day comes.

As somebody who grew up with natural straight hair I hated it since I was little I did the most to have curly / wavy hair people think that following trends make them stand out it doesn’t it’s the contrary in all cases
