This is a very strange question.

Because "Mainland China" has 56 different ethnic groups.

You expect a population of 1.4 billion people, with 56 different ethnic groups, to have a discernible "average look"? Many of the folks from among those 56 ethnic groups look very, very different from each other.

In addition to that, not many people here will even be able to tell the difference between the various ethnic groups in Taiwan and China.

Some think General Tso's is an authentic Chinese dish.

So basically, Mainland China is no where near ethnically homogeneous as many people think (like how Japan is homogeneous)?

Taiwanese are mostly refugees from the mainland. Genetically, they should be very similar. There are differences in culture though, because China has been "communist" for several generations.

Honestly I’ve been to both places and the women are all so incredibly diverse
