I googled Ariana Grande. To be honest, she has never been pale if you ask me. Yes, she had light skin - but not pale one. She has always been a brown girl with black hair and brown eyes, but she just spray tan her darker. So she went from a Mediterranean look to an African one.

No. She's ethnic American because of she's raised in an American culture. There have been several time been mentioned that she's of a Mediterranean descent "racially" speaking. She has been called partly Sicilian and Italian. Italians like Portuguese, Spanish, Greek and Southern-French people are mostly brown. They've often black hair, brown eyes and a light brown skin tone. They're not like the Nordics who've either red or white like hair, blue or green eyes and light pink-white skin.

Not all Europeans looks the same. How not all Africans are equally black and Asians equally small, that's how Europeans aren't equally white.
