Do celebrities make for bad role models?

It depends on the celebrity some are amazing role models and some are terrible ones. I think a good example is Julio Jones and Antonio Brown they were both star wide recievers but their character couldn't be more different. Julio Jones is a great role model in my opinion and AB is not. In Kpop I think there's quite a few good role models. I'm always impressed with how hard they work I couldn't even do half of what they do. Girls' Generation for instance they're the best role models for any girl or woman I could imagine.
They're legends they worked so hard they're so humble and classy, they're always cheerful polite respectful and kind to others. They have a great friendship they always support each other and they're great as a group but they're also individually super talented and can do their own thing as well like some are acting, doing tv shows, doing solo albums, musicals, moderating events, Djing all kinds of stuff.

Some say one of them might even be president of Korea one day, she played a part during the crisis where it looked like the U. S. might invade North Korea she performed at both concerts in South and North Korea and even gave a speech and proposed that everyone takle pictures together making the peace sign which they did. I made a post about it here :)

People who inflate their importance and the value of their opinions, posing them as facts, making unqualified political statements to influence their followers, speaking of matters they have no real clue about and as per standard, always espousing a virtue-less, liberal and generic lifestyle. Prime examples: Miley Cyrus, Whoopi Goldberg, Kathy Griffin, Meryl Streep, the artist Passenger who made an entire song dedicated to say, **** you Trump.
Yes, very bad role models.
Yes. Many have been caught out with bad behaviour - rape, sexual assault, attacking others, bad mouthing other celebrities.
They also spend money like its nothing - none of them need three houses and five cars (especially the ones who can't even drive?). That money could do so much good. If they used it for good, then they would be more admirable. No one need a millions of dollars, and some of these people are sitting on billions.
They glorify drinking, drugs and casual sex too, and do not state any consequences to this. This leads more young people into thinking its cool.
For females in particular, they wear revealing clothing (most of the time not even flattering - it is becoming a 'how naked can I get without actually being naked competition') This leads to a variety of self-esteem issues for girls, and also makes them believe they need to dress this way in order to appear attractive.
For males in particular, many male rap artists have very degrading lyrics about women. This will rub off on young men and could influence their views towards women. Not to mention obviously the more serious allegations of sexual assault.
Hollywood is full of all kinds of undesirables we don't hear about too - from satanists to pedos. Just because someone is in the public eye doesn't mean we should look up to them.
I don't think we should label someone a bad role model for simply being a celebrity. You gotta remember that just because they are rich and famous doesn't mean they don't have values, and honestly, you have to look at their actions vs their social status.
Lena Heady (Cersei Lannister) is someone who supports human rights, is very vocal about her opinions, and is sympathetic towards humans belonging of 3rd world countries, and she actually gets involved. Ian Somerhalder also takes action for causes he believes in. However, when you have people like Ariana Grande and Justin Beiber who disrespect not only their fans but also their country, I don't think they are the best people to look up to.

Usually, but it’s not really in their job description if you ask me. When I see people say “so and so is such a bad role model, I don’t want my child looking up to them” I wonder, isn't it your job to raise your children? Not the media’s? You teach them what is right and valuable and what is not by your standards. Celebrities are just people, we can’t expect them to live their lives solely for the sake of the public.
Yes, most of them do make bad role models because they don't live in the real world.
Their celebrity status and high income, combined with the group-think that comes with the people in their peer groups, means they have little understanding of the realities of the world in which normal people live.
you could enjoy Beyonce music.
acting like she does in videos would make you very unpleasant tho. don't act like you're on a pedestal that's rule nr. 1
Are u talking about me
No i didn't, i was going to say it's not related with Beyonce. I had to out a pic to make the question better. And google gave me
Put*
uhm ok I just read into stuff literally so the picture is misleading the question. there is a german rapper who is pretty much the best role model you could have for a celeb. a real dude from the streets who made it up by effort, charisma and talent. also Kerli is a celeb who seems kinda nice
There are a lot of option and a lot of fans or lovers of them. So in any case, someone might say something like you
In any case of pic, someone would say someyhing like you said
A LOT of the time, yes!! They get caught up in their fame, and money and lose track of the important things!
Not to mention those that get arrested for sexual abuse, and rape!
It depends on the person, some of them are excellent role models who we should try to be. But then there are other which life shouldn't be look at.
Iike who.. u can say in private
Only the ones who promote drugs and sex outside of marriage. Let people do it on their own terms. Dont “influence” others
Some do.. some dont... there is a side to both... meeting them in real would make anyone know about it
Why would take life advice from somebody who sings pr dances unless that's going to be your profession or passion then you shouldn't value it other than entertainment and
Yes. I mean a lot of them are famous by luck. Or just a child of a rich person. Have to be careful who you admire.
