At first I was going to ask how a whole store could fit in an eye.
I don't think they look good with either Kohl's or kohl in their eyes
"Antimony sulfide [kohl] is known to have been used as early as 3000 B. C. Women of Middle East applied this compound as cosmetic to darken their eyebrows and eyelids. Even artifacts made out of this element dating back to 3000 B. C. have been found. Even today, it has great use. Despite its utility, a fact worth considering is that the element is toxic. Increased [ or repeated ] exposure to the element can lead to antimony poisoning." hearthealthy. com

I think you are talking about "Surma (Urdu, Turkish, Persian) and Kajal for Hindi, I don't think anybody use it in adulthood it was applied to new born eyes and its use continue up to 12 years to give proper shape and texture to eyes with thick lashes.
It have its own health benefits and used in Africa, Middle-East and South-Asia and its one of the reason we don't have squeaky eyes like Sino-Asian people (Japa, Chinese and Koreans). It also responsible for giving proper shape and adherence to eyes common in Middle-Eastern and North-West subcontinent population.
Yeah it's locally known as kajal or surma
The Word is borrowed from Akkadian (ancient mesoptomia 10000-12000BC) and used in area from that time period and Indians later burrowed... now claims its part of their culture with zero evidence to back it up.
Traditional/authentic kohl has ingredients that keep the eyes healthy and white, and it lengthens and thickens the eyelashes. For thousands of years both men and women used it for that purpose.
@kaylaS91 Yet Asian people have better vision and lower cases of eye diseases and I can statistically prove it
www.discovermagazine.com/.../ophthalmology-of-the-pharaohs-antimicrobial-kohl-eyeliner-in-ancient-egypt
Its a pharmaceutical antimicrobial agent used to treat eye diseases and the heavy metallic component has anti-viral properties and unlike your status based reports... I am referring believes on pure experimental evidence which out-weights your claims.
THERE IS NOT A SINGLE DRUG ON PLANET EARTH THAT DON'T HAVE SIDE EFFECT'S and lead poisoning they are referring to is very minute and don't have any side-effects... if we started to go by your standards.
Then Ethanol/Alcohol is a very dangerous compound and known Carcinogen for liver and un-like kHOL we know for a fact its LIVER TOXIN and cause tumors but you don't western academia going around trying to stop people from consuming it.
You don't have any Medical knowledge or expert in this field but you read some scientific paper you are not qualified to understand and started trying shit... stay on your own field and let us deal with our's.
I challenge you name a drug and I will tell you its side-effects?
but we try to out weight benefits and there is certain limit under which,
every toxin is effective drug known as = Therapeutic dose
there is limit every drug is toxin known as = LD50 dose (lethal dose 50)
You have to learn Pharmaceutics before opening your mouth stupid woman...
@kaylaS91 Let me enlighten you a little bit,
You known Asprirn Pain killer rights and its extremely common and is on list of WHO safe drugs,
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK519032/
Let me tell you its side-effects that are experimentally observed,
Signs of an allergic reaction to aspirin: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Ringing in your ears, confusion, hallucinations, rapid breathing, seizure (convulsions);
Severe nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain
Bloody or tarry stools, coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds;
fever lasting longer than 3 days
Swelling, or pain lasting longer than 10 days.
Upset stomach, heartburn;
Drowsiness
Mild headache
I am not even mentioning specific side-effects and going very easy on you... Khol is very safe medicine cuz it only have 1 side effects and its high lead concentration and topical application of drugs have only 0.1% absorption rate.
Which means only 0.1% of lead will absorb if it manage to get in contact with blood vessels which are under the skin while KHOL is only in eye lashes.
There is not a single thing in planet Earth that don't have possible some side-effects and drinking Milk can kill you I can scientifically prove it WOMAN but Why its picked up?
Its Middle-Eastern and Asian thing and Western like to do this to make themselves fell good while Eu/West is treasure trove of diseases and dying like flies in face of Crona.
"don't have"
LOL you lost any credibility your links might have given you a shot at the moment you made blanket statements regarding sanitary levels in China compared to that of the Middle East.
I can’t imagine the middle east being a margin better than an area near where I live filled with middle eastern residents who I routinely see pissing on the walls of park bathrooms in broad daylight, pick their noses on public transit, go on walks barefoot, use their hands to snack out of nut/raisins and whatnot from the ‘dispenser’ things at the grocery store, etc.
@kaylaS91 Okay which link is fault idiot woman,
Now you have to deny NCBI or Discovery Magazine that publishes scientific paper and THE MOST RELIABLE source of information regarding Archaeology.
We at are you entitled about your nation your trashy ass kind was using Medical book written by ARAB scientist in 9th CENTURY well in to 19th century... that's How stupid you guys are.
I am talking real science with scientific evidence but you made-up some shit about comparing Sanitary conditions between Middle-East and China... I never said a fucking word about sanitary condition in either of those.
Why the FUCK I have to prove any credibility to you?
Who the fuck are you to anyone?
go work your useless stupid Jobs like cleaning or selling shit in super store while we do research... YOU ARE NOTHING WOMAN your word have no worth in world cuz you got nothing to back it up.
Who invented SANITARY and TOILETS?
Common SAY IT... ITS Middle-Eastern and you were living CAVES like wild shit and even after you STOLE our Sanitary concept.
You guys use TOILET PAPER to clean your shit AND then YOU fucking lick the ASS-HOLE and Vagina with tongue... and KISS to spread it around... THAT'S THE LOWEST KIND OF DIRTY SHIT YOU ARE.
I DON'T MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT Middle-East and Chinese Sanitary condition... you are tripping woman bye.
@CubsterShura
I am really sorry you have to live through it and you can see I was trying to make valid scientific point there but She started it...
I had to intervene on the Arab vs Chinese sanitary thing. At least Arabs wash their asses with water. Good luck finding even a molecule of H2O in Chinese washrooms.
She is talking about Egypt and is angry why don't I compared them to Western countries cuz both are third world by their standards... but in reality 2500 BC they were living in caves and only thing remotely known about civi to them was if they got captured and become slaves, then they will visit some sites in East.
Pers yea
But it depends on the guys style, ethnicity, context and all.
Like if a guy is goth, emo, punk or into some genres of metal, it looks cool and hot. If some arab dude wears it (with his traditional headscarf and all) it looks masculine and hot. If it's some dude in a historical film about I don't know ancien egypt or something, yea.
But if it's some random dude, he'd probably look really gay.
No, I don't care for that. I think it's too feminine. I think eyeliner is best left to women and guys who aren't straight. The guy in the top picture looks masculine with his, but I still think it gives off the wrong impression for a man to be wearing makeup.
It looks pretty masculine on middle-eastern and South Asian men, probably because of having dark features.

On a good looking guy it looks good
You completely lost me on the " Kohl In Their Eyes " Comment
Wait wait wait. Hold up! You just blew my mind. I have never in my life heard the word "Kohl" before, other than the name of a former Senator from Wisconsin. But looking at these pictures, it really makes me wonder:. Do a lot of Muslim men use this product? 100% honest question.
Because when I was a kid I used to think that Muslim dudes were all evil, and part of that was due to 9/11 but part of it was due to the way their eyes looked. And THIS explains it!!
So if true, then this is really a significant breakthrough. I mean, I'm literally in shock right now. I had no idea.
My eyes naturally give this effect. I've been asked many times if I'm wearing something but I never am.
Luckyyy
I think it looks okay along with long hair if the guy looks like Khal Drogo:

He could probably wear a ballerina tutu and still look like a badass somehow.
To me, it just looks like normal eyeliner, which I associate with women; however, putting anything dark around the eyes will make them "pop"/seem more vibrant, because the whites become more noticeable. Personally, I rub my eyes too frequently to even consider using it.
Some arab men have it naturally and it's attractive 😍
South Asian men too 😍 I have a friend who has such eyes naturally.
Yes.

Yes. Wish more men wore it. White guys would kill it because of their light eyes
I actually find it too freaky on pale complexions when they wear such a raven black kohl around their eyes... Something softer like grey or brown would look so much better in my opinion.
Brown would look good
Our Arab ancestors used to put it everyday men and women, as the natural Kohl is a considered a natural way to sanitize and clean eyes from sands of desert dunes, however now after civilization and most of arabs are living in civilized cities it's considered as a cosmetic tool for women only as the eye liner and Mascara and not is forbidden by the most of the Arab society for men, it could be considered of a bi-male
It depends from the guy. If he looks good in it why not. About the personality, I hope he doesn't have a dark one.. but that's just my opinion and I respect others thoughts so please don't take it personally
No they look rediculus along with their manbuns and they expect to be taken seriously as a man they have a long way to go a pretty boy is not a man he's still a boy
men dont look good with any makeup in my opinion... they look gay / weird / feminine/ faggy
Maybe if he's a:
-- punk-rock musician
-- soothsayer
-- cult leader
-- sultan
-- pantomime villain
-- Super-hahns from Peep Show
Otherwise probably not lol
Only Asian men can pull it off. I'm not into it though.
only if they are looking to have another man ask them out... it looks very gay/feminine to me...
i would not go out with a guy that wears makeup!!
It's a cool look if you're a musician, hair dresser magician or maybe some sort of pick up artist instructor, but for the real world, it's a no-go.
If it makes their eyes stand out and makes them feel more confident I don't see the harm in it. Case by case basis like with most things.
From a Western perspective, men who wear makeup want to have sex with other men.
totally agree, i would like 1000 times if i could
On a musician, I'd think it was normal but on a regular guy I would just assume it was leftover eyeliner from the previous night out in drag.
Nobody looks good with Kohl around their eyes not just men
Didn't those guys play in The Cure back in the 80's?
The prophet (pbuh) used to wear kohl and thats why some Muslim guys wear it too, but for me personally Its not my thing
Ah, we call it surma lol
Either if you're trying to attract dudes or if it's for a movie/acting, I wouldn't advise it for guys
Unless you work in the theater or your name is Jared Leto, then no. Lol
I have seen men with this crap and I just thought they were metrosexual guys who used eyeliner. Pretty gay.
It's wear for coolness of the eyes.. I have never done that
Never heard of it.
And now that I have...
.. no.
I used to shop at Kohl’s. But I grew up. No Izod jeans anymore.
Unless it's part of a stage costume I immediately think "sissy."
No its not that prominent but its very ancient Middle-Eastern culture practiced from Akkadian era (10,000-12,000BC) upto this day cuz it gives proper shape and texture to eyes.
Yes they do but only middle easterners, not europeans.
Never knew what that was but it is very effective
It looks like it does
I find it really attractive
They look good. Yet I do prefer a natural look! :)
I strongly dislike it on either sex
Why?
They remind me of Jack Sparrow
Isn't eyeliner for women and '80s rock stars?
Kohl is a little different from the conventional eyeliner
Says you.
It's eyeliner.
I think it can look really good
I have no idea what that is.
That black thing around the rim of their eyes. Traditionally made with soot, castor oil etc ingredients and in the modern days manufactured by makeup companies with whatever they use to make makeup.
The guy in that picture looks extremely gay
A shadow.
Yeaa
But mainly I like to use it😂
I didn't even know it existed. Not interested.
Jack Sparrow does :)
What typical make wears makeup?
No, I think it doesn't.
I don't like anything unnatrual.
If by kohl, you mean eyeliner then yes absolutely!
Looks gay af.
Reqlly guys use this 🤣
Uhm no! Ask Captain Jack Sparrow
Lol.
Men look natural beautiful ❣️
I don't rate men on looks.
i love it
Not really a fan
That’s a hard no
You mean eyeliner?
That's what was thinking... is this coal and eyeliner the same thing with different names?
With what?
Kohl. That black eyeliner thing.
It looks dumb
Nope
