Petite has to do with being small overall, and not necessarily 'skinny'. Think of Victoria's Secret models. Beautifully slender/slim women, but you wouldn't really consider them 'petite' because they are still tall and have wide shoulders.
This is why you see that usually women who are small in both height and frame are considered petite. You can be petite and still have a fair amount of curves, you don't necessarily have to be slender all over.
I'm a bit short, but I'm still not petite because I don't look that 'small' when people see me as a whole. Someone taller than me could still look small and therefore be described as petite.
In my opinion, petite has more to do with height. So they're not the same thing. I consider a petite person to be short and skinny. While a person who's tall and skinny is not petite. Both of those types of people are skinny, but only one of them is petite.
A lot of the time, they can go hand in hand, but they are not the same. Skinny is thin and petite is just generally small.
Think of it as the difference between a pencil and a small stick. Pencils can be long or short, but they're always thin, whereas Small Sticks are small, but they can be quite thick at times
No. Skinny is a thin body frame. Petite is shorter and smaller features. She can be skinny and tall. She can be petite and overweight.

If you're as tall as the door you can be skinny but not petite
No, they are not the same.
I believe your confusion stems fom the way clothing manufacturers use "petite" as a size - which is really stupid. Petite always means Small (meaning Short in stature) & frequently Dainty. Skinny is more like being Bony (not having much weight [muscle or fat] on your bones). Looking at your 2 images, the top woman appears Petite (small) & the bottom appears Skinny (bony).
No. A skinny person isn’t necessarily petite. A petite person is very short (height) with a small body frame (width).
A petite’s smaller body frame differentiates them from a skinny person. The distance between their left and right shoulder is smaller as is their chest, waistline, and thighs.
No, I wouldn't consider them the same. You can be skinny and be tall, which would not be considered petite. You can be short with curves and be considered petite. You can be short and skinny and be considered petite. Basically if you have a small frame, that would make you petite.
They're not exactly the same thing. Skinny can be tall or short. Petite is generally skinny, but is also usually short. However petite can be more curvy than skinny. You could call a girl petite who has great curves if she has a slender waist and is short. So there's some overlap between the two, but they're not identical
No. Petite is short and small boned. you can still be chubby.
you can be 7 feet tall and have huge bones bones and be skinny.
an elephant is never petite but it can be very skinny if it is starving
I always felt like skinny was more so you’re not necessarily small but you’re slim. Like you said in general you don’t have a small body frame. You’re just slender while petite is like you said. You’re short, with a possibly small maybe curvy but not too thick shape. I say possibly because you can be short but chubby. Some skinny people can way more than petite people considering their body frame is larger.

No. By definition petite is a woman who is small in stature and thin in build, where as skinny is a synonym for a thin build.
In other words, if you're petite you're skinny, but you don't have to be petite to be skinny.
I used to think so but when I hear people talk about petite, it sounds like they mean short and skinny means less body mass.
anyone can correct me if they wish but thats the general idea I get from it
I always thought that petite referred to people who are short AND skinny or at least slim too, like I wouldn't consider a tall person petite.
Nope.
Never really been.
Petite = small bone structure. can be fat, not skinny.
Skinny = Low body fat with low muscle mass. not necessarily that you see a sixpack. some also call it bony.
I wouldn't say there the same. im skinny and 5ft 9 in, but a petite skirt or shorts would fit me, but I'm skinny. i think petite means your smaller height wise and have smaller measurments.
No no no. I am petite. It's a height and bone structure thing. I am not skinny. But I am short. Well proportioned. So petite is average girl height, just shrink them.
I consider petite to mean short more than skinny tbh.
No skinny just means that, petite is small overall and your frame, and shorter. I'm petite I would never compare myself to a tall skinny.
Yes, usually. Though there are some tall girls who manage to stay thin but they're not petite because they're tall. So it doesn't always mean the same thing, but usually I would say yes.
And they're both quite hot and fuckable. Who are they?
The word petite itself is 'small' in French, so if a girl is short she would be more petite than a girl that is skinny.
yeah, it has to do with the french meaning
No. Petite is both short and skinny, not just skinny. To my understanding, anyway.
Petite is short height or body frame. Skinny girl can be tall too but cannot be called petite
petite is more about having a small frame like me. Also being medium to short.
You can be skinny but tall and that's no longer petite.
No. But a person can be both. That does not mean that it’s the same thing.
Wow, talking about splitting hairs. Don't worry about how someone categorizes you. Be yourself.
No, not at all ! Skinny can be tall and skinny ! Petite is smaller features or attributes! Petite is more of a size measurement whereas skinny is a thickness measurement!
They are not the same. Runway models are skinny but not petite. Short women with a slightly hourglass body probably qualify as petite but may not get called skinny.
Not really, petite is when she's short and skinny, both at the same time but skinny doesn't mean being short
Petite also implies short. There are plenty of 6 feet tall and up walking planks out there, they're not petite.
Not the same petite is short under 5' 3". You can be 6 ft. tall and be skinny.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂what the heck are you blind?
They usually come hand-in-hand, but no; they are not the same.
No. Petite usually is more associated with height, not actual weight.
I would say that skinny is very slender, regardless of height. Petite simply means small.
i think the definition of Petite is accually closer to meaning "short" not thin...
You pics show the difference pretty clearly. Just add a tall skinny person and the difference would be more clear.
I've always thought of skinny bring the waist and petite being the height
I think petite is also for short too. A petite woman is not necessarily just a skinny woman as she may be tall and skinny.
I always referred to small waist/stomach area as skinny and petite was all around tiny body as in thin arms, legs, short and skinny.
I would say petite also would include hight were skinny can be applied to everyone
They are essential the same thing though
Nope. Skinny refers to weight and petite refers to heights and weight. Petite is always the combination of those, to me. 🤷
No.
Petite means skinny/thin, but also SMALL as well
No skinny does not always equal petite in my opinion
Petite is short and usually thin to medium.
Yes.
Is that your body type?
Petite is short and slim not just slim.
No you can be skinny and tall
petite women have to be short too dont they?
nah. skinny I'd say is thin. petite is your height
The girls you posted don't look petite.
She's also short as well
No, a girl can be overwight and still petite
Petite can be more a height thing
No they aren't.
Yes I do
Yes I both are
