My tragus piercing is healing with the hoop turned upwards and hurts when I move it downward, is that normal?

it will hurt but you need to rotate the hoop regularly else the hole will heal around it tightly and it will cause you no end of problems in the future. dab it with tcp and turn it twice a day and after a while it won't hurt anymore and be a lot easier to move

I move it in and out without a problem, so I should flip it up and down as well? When I flip in downward I feel pulling the three hole itself if stretching downward because of it. Is that normal? It the hoop keeps going back upwards on its own.

this is why i suggested it was healing too tightly around the hoop... it it heals more loosely from being regularly moved about, then gravity will see it hang down unless you stand on your head. you have to realize unlike lower ear piercings, this goes through cartilage rather than just flesh so the healing process is different and the way the piercing acts will also be different until its fully settled down and this also takes a lot longer than lower ear piercings

just a thought, you could replace it for now with a thick stud... much easier to rotate and it theory the whole will be slightly larger wen it heals fully so any hoop will hang downwards as it should

How long have you had the piercing?
make sure that your hands are cleaned before touching any piercings especially piercings that are new and still in the healing process

1. it’s possible that during the heeling process as wankiam said that it could have been heeling too tight around the piercing and that’s why it was hurting

2. It could be a sign that it is starting to get infected or that your body is rejecting the jewellery

It does hurt as much only when I force it down too far it’s like a pinching sensation

try not to force it try your hardest to do it slowly bit by bit if it is still hurting after a couple of weeks or your feel any bumps lumps or you see any puss coming out or blood speak with your doctor always always wash your hands with soap and water before touching the piercing not washing your hands can result in bacteria being transferred to the piercing and getting inside of the piercing hole

You need to turn it once in a while, when it hurts when you move it, it mean the flesh is growing onto the piercing and is attached to it.

When a piercing is healed completly it doesn't hurt at all when turning it and taking it out and sticking it back in.
