Why can't you wear white after labor day?
Would it look bad or be bad luck or something if I was to wear a white dress anytime soon?
The "you can't wear white after Labor Day," rule was created to separate the old money elitists from the new money group. "It [was] insiders trying to keep other people out," according to Valerie Steele, director of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, in an interview with Time, "and outsiders trying to climb in by proving they know the rules."
Because afrer the labour u'll still have "dripps" like period that you might not be aware of, and when seated you can have nasty surprises... and you don't want that, specially if you have any friends with you... like going out, dinner, b'day party, etc, etc...
Fall is coming. However, I think nowadays anything goes. Like wearing just black at a funeral? No way. many dress in other colors appropriate for this.

People tended to wear lighter than normal colours in the summer because they’re cooler. Conventionally labour day was the end of the summer fashion season.
That's an abridged version of the aphorism. It's you can't wear white after labor day unless you're a virgin.

all the other answers are stupid idiots
Forget about it, wear what you want. I avoid wearing light colors after sunset but that's just me.
Also, ladies would have to wear closed-toe shoes after LD also.
Of course, that was when women wore dresses, gloves and hats, too.
I think that’s an old rule. I wear white whenever I want... except to weddings.
I don’t know and I don’t care. Ima do whatever dafuq I wanna do
You can. You should. It's a good look. The reasons for not wearing white after Labor Day are outdated and no longer anything that we should be considering.
What were the original reasons?
As someone who loves fashion that rule is a bunch of nonsense and plain stupid!!!
I think its silly to believe in such nonsense. Wear whatever color you want to.
I have no idea but I Don’t believe in bad luck superstitious stuff
Wouldn’t every day be after a Labor day? I mean wear whatever you want.
Lol. I've never heard of that before.
The fashion police will arrest you
i have no idea where that stupid rule came from
You can
