Don't worry about 'trashy'... some people say my tattoos are trashy, everybody has an opinion. Lower/mid back tattoos can be sexy, but if they are on your back then you can never see it. I put the tattoos on my arms so I could see them all the time, and so can everyone else.
Just make sure you get a design that you enjoy and want to wear forever.
I'd recommend a tattoo in a place that won't be affected by aging and weight gain.
If you can guarantee (no one can) that you'll still be healthy and slim in 20 years and don't have fat hanging over you're belt and it's so stretched out you can't tell what it is anymore... go for it.

Tramp Stamp? The popularity of getting them seems to have fallen. That being said, if that's what you want to get then by all means do it. I don't ever ask anybody before I get my tattoos, it's something I want so I get it.
Some tramp stamps can be very nice looking but the biggest consideration is afterwards you will never be able to get a spinal epidural during childbirth if necessary or a spinal anesthesia for lower body surgery. The ink prevents you from having one. That means I creased risk to your health at so e point. It's something that is rarely thought of at the time and afterwards it's too late.

Both of my daughters have tattoos, the oldest has dolphins on her lower back, she took the ship she was on in the Coast Guard, through the Panama Canal. If it pleases you then why ask?
I'm ok with it, but lots of guys call lower back tattoos tramp stamps, so be wary of that.
