I like them with some high-waisted pants. Not too short so you can maybe see a slight rim of skin or no skin at the tummy at all. This combination works very well for my body type, since it defines my waist.
When I was a kid I disliked seeing girls in them. I was that kid in the class who because he was bullied sometimes and not welcome among the popular kids took pleasure in insulting pop culture. I listened to folk music and would have worn a three cornered cap if my parents had been willing to buy me one. This of course was during the Britney Spears era. I certainly regret my past distain for her now, with the things she has had to endure. Crop tops seemed to be becoming less common by the time I went to college, but now they are coming back.
Just like tattoos, the body is the canvas and the tattoos are the art. As long as it's tasteful and appropriate for the place and the body... it's fine.
Like I'm not wearing speedos anymore because that's just mean to put myself out in public and make people queezy, so as long as one is presentable it have no issues with almost anything.

I loooove wearing crop tops! Cx especially with shorts.
They are nice under a motorcycle jacket. More airflow than a regular tank. More coverage than a sports bra if you stop at a roadside restaurant for a bite to eat.
