Because Im guessing no one would have a problem if he wanted to cover his white skin with a black banaclava, but I would also expect a large amount of people to completely lose their shit if the exact same thing were done with make up for the exact same reason.
Of course a white girl got offended. White girls are constantly stepping in and getting offended on behalf of POC individuals. They're the most easily triggered type who think it's fine to speak on behalf of others rather than minding their own business.
For example, when this white girl wore a kimono, it was other white women who were the most offended. When actual Japanese people were asked about it, they were thrilled and honored that a non-Japanese person was appreciative of their culture. They even said that she looked beautiful in the kimono.

I think it's ok for children to play dress up but as a Celt I feel triggered when I see black people mocking our religious festival by dressing up for Halloween. It's cultural appropriation of the worst type.
