However in more traditional/macho cultures where gender roles are still a thing, men seem to prefer women shorter than themselves. Even very short.
Do you is it so?
You do realize that the AVERAGE height of a woman in Finland and Sweden is a full 4 inches taller (5'8) than here in the US, right? It's not a matter of "men choosing taller women" or feminism, because that's the genetic norm over there. If there's a trend in France favoring taller women, it's probably more because of it being considered exotic or abnormal since French women are generally on the shorter side at 5'3. The average American man would be only about an inch taller than the average Finnish or Swedish woman, but you'd be very hard pressed to find a straight man who likes white girls who doesn't think they're among the prettiest women on the planet.
Same trend in France exist in Sweden and Finland too. Only difference is, 5'7" woman would be tall in France while would be only average in Sweden. Same "tall girls are bestest!!!" trend exist in both countries, which is self evident of what I have said.
Oh, and average height is only 2" taller in those countries, compared to US.
I could see that. I think it's more of the culture teaches men to be obsessed with sex. And that penis size means more than it actually does. So we have men who are devastated on the inside because of what they have in their pants but won't even admit it to themselves that's when we have situations like men who prefer short girls and men who get lifted trucks. I'm not saying every man with a lifted truck and a short girlfriend has a small penis or has an insecurity but I could see that happening in America because the sex is a big part of the culture. So when it's your girl puts her hands on your penis and you have a small penis it makes your penis look big, that also applies to every other kind of sex, so it kind of plays to those insecurities. Personally I feel like being "macho" in the way most people think of it is just an insecurity.
I think it’s just preference, it could also be insecurities. Especially if you’re a guy on the shorter side people will judge you differently if your with a woman that’s taller even if you wanted to
I wouldn't say it's a macho thing. Some men are only attracted to women who are their height or shorter than them. It's an individual's preference so I don't want to generalize here

I would agree with the theory that was a factor into why it shows up a lot.
It's a typical thing for a man to be dom, and typical thing for a woman to be sub. A typical thing for a man to be tall and a typical thing for a woman to be small.
These typical things do inherently come from the way men have enforced there ideas over the past with often shaming those who don't follow the social normality which they created to be like this as so.
The way everyone thinks is impacted by society around them. So it only makes sense for such things to impact it as such.
Its a lot different in cultures where women are more "equal" to men. It affects height preferences aswell.
I am 5'8. I have dated girls taller than me, but never more than an inch or two. For the most part it didn't bother me, until she put on 6 inch heels. More than 3 inches taller than its and issue for me. But I do prefer a women an inch or two shorter and not more than 4 inches shorter. After 4 inches its more awkward to give her a good hug and kiss without bending over.
Currently I am dating someone who is 5'3( 5 inches shorter) and she always wants to hug me over the top and not around my waist or chest, and I find that annoying, because I have hunch over to hug her... so we haven't date long but it will have to get address at some point because I am not digging it.
Ever do LSD or what? You consider France and Italy feminist cultures? Feminism in Italy and in the Mediterranean countries including France comes from the United States, it is not autogenic.
In Italy, Sweden are both countries where I lived, tall men have a considerable competitive advantage and usually choose smaller women than themselves.
In France or Italy women prefer feminine women in Sweden they take what they find, beautiful women up to 25 years and "meh" later. In general, when I lived in Sweden, the women were smaller than me (187 for the record). I found the only women taller than me in the Netherlands.
Common sense should tell you it is a basic human condition. The average male is 6 inches taller than the average female. The large majority of the female pool will always be shorter than men. It's basic shit. It has nothing to do with psychology.
I have observed that in nations where men prefer "tall" women, height difference gets closer
In America, its 6 inches. In Sweden, it is 4
There is still a difference tho, but still
There will always be more pretty faces and hot bodies in the middle than on the fringes. There will also always be more personality diversity. Thus guys gravitate towards the middle. When you continuously keep dating girls in the middle and have some success then you’ve created a pattern that conditions you on what to look for... You develop a type...
Is average height for girls in US 5'4" ?
So why in other countries men prefer tall women?
Likely because the average woman is taller... In Scandinavian countries and in Eastern European countries like Latvia the average woman's height is around 5'6". So the height preference would go up in those nations... In the modern age in the developed world you have a lot of choice so you want the best features in women, cars, a dishwasher, whatever... The further you stray from comfort into poverty and agrarian society, the more people will favor women that can work hard and produce babies that can work hard once they can walk... That sort of selection has more to do with survival...
Its logical for preferences go up in these nations, but what I observed, men there also tend to prefer less height difference, or no difference at all.
You are 6'4" and still prefer 5'4" girl. A Swedish guy who's 6'4" would likely prefer 5'11"++
I'm 6'3", but close enough. I get your point, historically I’d assume Vikings and other north Germanic tribes wanted taller stronger women that could fight in battle, farm, and endure the harsh climate, but I have an ancestor from Sweden who sailed to Florida and he married a short Native American woman (I'm talking 4'11) when he migrated to the USA. Many women in that side of the family are around five foot nothing... My grandmother was very short, but she married a tall German man (again German men are said to also hate short women) and my mom ended up being 5’6” and then she married my father who was 6’1” and had three boys 6'3", 6'4", and 6'5". My grandmother on my father’s side was about 5'4" and she married my grandfather who was 6'. So there is a long chain of men in my family going back several generations where a tall man married a shorter woman and no such preference for tall women existed even though the standards of their country of heritage supposedly liked tall women. I still strongly think it is a matter of choice... I think men in places like Sweden and Germany have limited choice, because you can see a shift in German male behavior today. Many German men are dating Asian women who are notoriously short... When the option opened up for more variety to choose from they abandoned the reported preference they supposedly had... Thus it wasn’t a real preference, just a forced preference through limited genetic diversity.
You consider France and Italy feminist cultures? LMAO!
Now, Sweden and Finland are certainly feminist cultures. Men there have been feminized to the point where they now are attracted to masculine traits such as dominant and tall women.
In normal cultures, like the US, men are still men and prefer feminine women.
Yeah its true
However I thought France and Italy is the same. Not much as Sweden and Finland tho

Yeah definetely true
France and Italy is also feminized cultures. Not as Sweden or Finland but still
I'm 5'11. Almost every girl I've seen is shorter than me. It's not a macho thing with me. There just aren't that many girls that are about six foot.
But I have read here that its mostly American men that especially prefer shorter women. Maybe its not the most important thing to them but we can't deny that they have a preference. Yes?
In my country, its quite the opposite. Many men have stated that they exclusively want a women taller than a certain height, not shorter
I prefer my man to be taller than me because I like to feel safe and protected. Does that mean I have some sort of issues? No.
I prefer not having to answer this twice. Hint hint.
@PrettyPriya dang. Are they a spammer?
Report as duplicate.
@PrettyPriya Done
Feminists literally pick the most stupid, dumbest, most foolish topics to demean men and express how much they hate males😂
Most guys really don't care about a woman's height if she's not ugly, but most women will never date a guy who is shorter than them. Women are far more superficial when it comes to height.
Americans prefer shorter girls to tall girls and America is not a macho culture
No it isn't. They just have bigger breasts and all in proportion to their size and so they are more attractive. They are also more flexible.
Good things do come in small packages so they say.
No, preferences are decided by genetics.
Not sure. I have observees it also influenced by the culture you live in. That explains why Swedish men teeth on tall women or black men like curvy women.
No, culture has no impact at all, people subscribe to cultures they agree with or are forced into, but genetics explains what people like.
it's a lot more variable though than just swedish or black.
I'm talking about individual genetics, not groups of people.
Most straight guys in general though care little to nothing about height in women.
Boob size? body shapes? thick hair? good skin? sure, but preference varies.
But height?
If she's short I can carry her to safety in an emergency, and she would be easier to do extra sex positions with.
If taller, I get boobs in my face while having sex or hugging, which isn't exactly something I'd complain about.
if same height, it's great for kissing during hugs and sex.
It kinda really doesn't matter.
You need to learn more on psychology. There is tons of evidence and proof that preferences can 100% be impacted by society, and pretty much everything even down the way we think is.
If you grew up somewhere else, you would be a totally different person with different preferences no matter your DNA lol.
I also didn't adopt any of the cultural things I was raised with either.
And phrenology, and palm reading, and astrology, and ziodiacs, and all the other silly ways people attempt to catagorize others into predictable groups. Real people are not predictable.
Of course moving to some other place now wouldn't effect it. Your already built into who you are now, you can learn somethings. But it would never be as impact as it would to be a kid and if your strong headed on opinions now then yeah it's rare to change.
But you just called psychology bs. So it don't really matter to have further talk with you tbh. Since you will never understand that psychology is not bs and that it's a fact depression exists, it's a fact that PTSD exists, it's a fact the way we are is mostly due to childhood, it's a fact that are minds are impacted by learning from other's, it's a fact that psychology is not bs.
@Kaneki05 I was who I was before I could read or speak or in any way understand any cultural influence.
And psychology is bs.
Also depressing is just another word for being sad, and ptsd is just prolonged stress from bad memories, those have nothing to do with the impossible task of predictive psychological catagorization of people into groups, which is what psychologists attempt doing, as what makes a person stressed or depressed varies from person to person based on their genetic makeup.
One person's nightmare is another's joy, and where you grew up has not much to do with that.
Sorry, but it's a fact that you're wrong.
depressed*
Depression and sad are two different things. You lack of knowledge shows. And your ignorance to psychology also shows.
Carry on believing what you want. But not a single scientist in there right mind would call psychology Bs nor would I. Nor would any just average person with half a brain. But guess we found the one without.
Lets say preferences are not affected by culture
How do you explain Asian people like white skin?
How do you explain African men like chubbier women?
How do you explain chubbier women were more attractive in Victorian era?
How do you explain Scandinavian men prefer taller women while Ango Soxon men prefer shorter?
Genetics is one thing, but all of your preferences are also influenced (mind, not formed) by the culture you live in.
If everyone start to think red is the most beautifull color, you will also start to consider if it really is.
You are ignoring the blatent fact that you are mentioning genetics in your argument against it being genetic.
Most people in each country are genetically similar. Countries like the united states that are cultural and racial melting pots are not as common, but in those countries, you see less cultural dominance, and more cultural variety, because different genetics introduce differenct cultures, and the longer that goes on, the more all of these cultures disolve, so you get highly watered down or altered versions based on people's personal preferences varying much more within that region, because of the higher variety in genetic variants.
Which also assists in proving that ultimately speaking, culture is an illusion, and it only appears when a group of people, who's genetics happen to reach the same opinions, gather in the same location.
Basically, I'm saying genetics creates individuality, and individual opinions grouped up create culture, not the other way around.
It's why some people in other countries say americans have no culture.
There are many different kinds of people here, and what some like, others hate, so you end up with compromising and watering every culture down publically.
Does that change what individuals like? no, no it does not. but the places where culture gets stronger here, are usually places where the rich are in charge more, or maybe that area of town is mostly of the same mentality.
Since when Italy is a feminist country?
No its not its biology
I prefer both
