Whether it's girls or guys there's a lot of criticism towards tank tops. Whatever people want to say it's really just about being comfortable. I think the people who criticize at the most of the ones that are not confident enough to wear tank tops

So do I. I wear them all the time but a lot of people I can tell look down on it but I don't care I just want to know why

Because in most people's minds, tank tops look like underwear, as in undershirt/singlet.
Something you would wear under an actual outer layer, usually a dress shirt.

So a man wearing a tank top is kind of the equivalent of a woman only wearing a bra and nothing else.
Which looks pretty hoboish.

I wear the wife beater kind as an undershirt very rarely will I wear them by them self out in public I'm not saying I don't but I try not to especially the white ones because those really look like trashy I think
