Why do most guys prefer skinny girls more than curvy or girls with a few extra lbs?

I suspect thinness, youth, and health (especially reproductive health) all kind of correlate and guys have noticed over millions of years to the point where it has become etched into our instincts. Extra weight is traditionally a symptom of success, as for those millions of years only those who could "afford" to overeat were capable of doing so. It is only recently that we developed high fructose corn syrup and other cheap ways to get fat - indeed, if you look at pictures of adults even as late as the 80s, what we call curvy today was rare. But men, especially younger men, tend not to be driven by the need to be taken care of (or to have their kids taken care of) but only the need to reproduce.

It's a language thing. When you women say curvy you often mean fugly with cankles or fugly with a santa belly. When a man says curvy he'd mean she has good proportions. But most guys don't even say curvy any more far as I know.

Personally, my interest in "thick" women declined as more and more fugly feminists claimed they were entitled to men finding them attractive & that a man's preferences don't matter... but her preferences in men are all important. No thanks.

Don’t worry about most guys. Find the right guy that thinks your a queen. Curves are cute, skinny is sophisticated. Every look has its own appeal. Just be super confident with the one you have. You have a stylish look in the picture, you are very lucky 🙂

You are definitely a pretty girl. Grass will ALWAYS look greener on the other side. A lot of skinny girls wish they had more shape, even though they are beautiful. It’s just how the mind works. I’ve always had long straight hair that refuses to curl, I know this is the stereotype of beauty being pushed. However, I’ve always wanted curly volumed hair. I would even refuse to brush it when I was younger so it had a little more volume. It’s literally just how the mind goes.

Beats me, I prefer curvy, thicc, and chubby women. I mean, don't get me wrong, there are tons and tons of slim, skinny, slender, athletic, what have you, women who are amazingly beautiful and I do appreciate their beauty, it's just that as a matter of preference, I like women around 150-200lbs and up. So here is the deal with curvy girls... they look amazing now. Like WOW that is girl is THICK... like in all the right way.

So there are naturally thick chicks then there is curvy. But guys consider how curvy she will be after she has a few kids or age catches up to her and she doesn't keep up with her self.

There is a thin line between curvy, border line fat, and someone who is just hanging on to what's left of her better years.

Couldn't say, could be cultural influence in some cases or just looking for someone who matches their lifestyle if they're extremely active.

Personally there's a wide range of types that I'd find attractive, but do prefer the curvier side, possibly because I fall into the big & tall category myself.

i moved this question to fashion and beauty because what we find attractive is often driven by fashion trends of the day... just a few years back you would have been asking why skinny girls are shunned and guys seem to like curvy girls more. it just goes round in circles
