How do I get rid of dark circles?

I either look like I'm drunk or high in pictures. I'm so done with people asking me if I'm tired. Not sure if this is hereditary. My mum does not have those, but my dad does (although in older pictures, he does not seem to have any dark circles and his eyes look good). I read somewhere that ageing can cause dark circles, so that's probably it... however, I'm only 17. Fuck eye creams, they are an utter waste of money. Do you guys have any tips that could actually work? Thanks in advance : )

Although I do go to bed at ungodly hours, I'm pretty sure that is not the cause. I've had this since I was a kid

Welp I cannot really give any more useful advice than what the internet would have told you which you've already looked up. My self granted I am not healthy as in drinks water and eats fruit nor sleeps but I never have bags but always have thy dark skin coming from the inner of my eye. Been that way for years now at some point well for me it was right away but one stop caring though that could just be me.

If things that should work aren't then this becomes on for the biological mystery's of the world. However I would think more on vitamin deficiencies stuff like iron and etc. Because these are things often not tracked by one's self and often are Widley not enough. It's like I do eat apple and banana along with burger, and some cereal and whatever else in a day but while that for sure does a lot in the way of living and taking in calories certain stuff will go amiss.
Unless your telling me, you have a set out diet for everything you will eat in one day tracking all nutrients.. which... I doubt most people are so there lays an answer.

Nah, I'm not on a diet and I don't track my calories and all stuff (people do that?). I avoid junk food and it's not exactly allowed at home. My parents are SUPER health conscious, so junk foods are a big no no (although I do like to eat chips every once in a while without them knowing! lol). I try to eat healthy stuff like veggies, egg, fish, meat etc. I *may* be deficient in iron tho, so that could also be a reason. I go to bed at like 3AM everyday and don't drink enough water which adds more to the list of reasons as to why I have dark circles. *sighs*

I'm the same as you. I don't exactly have bags, but I do have dark circles, so twinsies!

Some people do that yes. Ah maybe it's the fact your too healthy? Lmao need some junkfood it will fix it I promise to not promise that 100% works. 3am and not water does sound like culprits.

Well it seems genetic to me if you are sleeping 7 to 9 hours. Are you eating healthy and excercising? Cause if you aren't that would make a big difference. Try to drink 3 to 4 litres of water, eat healthy, sleep well and excercise. These are the main activities that would keep you healthy and slow down the ageing process. If you are doing all this, apply aloevera gel overnight, this would do wonders. Aloevera gel really slows down the ageing process and makes your skin glow. Get a natural aloevera gel in the market, and Don't use any night creams or any other chemicals. I am sure this will help you:)

Yep, I work out everyday, and I do eat healthy. Although, I don't drink enough water

I tried aloe vera as well, apart from preventing occasional breakouts, it did not do anything to improve my dark circles. Thank you for opining on my question. Appreciate it :)

I know you said you don't like eye creams, but a few actually work for dark circles. You have to give it time.

One cause of dark pigment around the eyes, that seems to be either unknown or overlooked, is sugar. If you consume a lot of sugary foods and drinks, you will get those dark circles. The good news is that stopping can help them disappear.

It depends on your complexion. Look for creams that say "brightening" and don't slop it on, just a dab. Also, if you touch your eyes, only use the tip of your ring finger (it's the most gentle finger we have).

I have a similar thing and even starting from childhood and in my teens.

Do you have any allergies? I think my number one contribution is my allergies. I find I have less puffy eyes in the morning if I take care of my allergies. I've found that alleviating my allergies with medication and air filters helped a whole lot. If my sinuses are blocked up and I'm sneezing a lot, it aggravates it a lot.

I'm so desperate that I used frozen spoons on my eyes as cold compress. I read somewhere that it could work, but it did not. I haven't seen even a slightest bit of improvement

I found mine sort of getting better or worse over the seasons and largely tied to my allergies. Also, some sunshine helps even though some people think it makes it worse. Just sort of healthy, energetic, drink lots of water, treat sneezing and itchy eyes symptoms -- the basics. But I've always had dark circles. They used to make me insecure a bit but I've sort of made peace with them. A very recent pic without my eyes covered and the dark circles:

I do rub my eyes A LOT. I should probably refrain from doing that, and increase my water intake. I barely drink even 1 L water a day which is not enough, lol. Thank you.. I'll try this!

Yeah, I got this thing where even Japanese still mistake me for my 20s. It's kind of a pro and con at the same time but tends to irritate me a bit. :-D I want to graduate from "boyish" looks to "manly". :-D

One thing I've found in my case, thankfully, is that it doesn't seem to be getting worse with age. Just my allergies. I clear up my sinuses and my eyes usually clear with them.

I used to even embarrassingly try putting ice packs and cucumbers on my eyes as women do in my 20s. That usually alleviated it for a short period of time in the early part of the day but get worse as the day progressed, like temporary aesthetic improvements rather than the long term. I think in your case if you can find more and more effective treatments for the allergies and any temptation to rub the eyes, that should help the most. Also, chug some water, and get some sunshine (but not too much).

A crude conjecture I also wonder about is with respect to facial muscles. If we can build up some facial muscles (I tend to eat lots of very chewy foods and play extreme sports), it might help to keep our skin taut in ways that alleviate puffiness. I think the same way about abs. Like some people try to crunch their way to building abdominal definition but maybe if they build up more of the surrounding muscles like in the chest and lats, that might help to stretch the skin and keep it taut around the abdomen revealing more definition.
