It entirely depends on the situation though. If we are out running errands, wearing a suit/tie would be awkward, and I'd prefer he wear something comfortable

If we are going out for dinner/wedding/birthday party, I will want my partner to be dressed smartly. A crisp shirt and pants, (a tie is not necessary).

If we are at home, lazing around, he could wear a hoodie or whatever he likes. I'm not a control freak

A lot is going to depend on the situation. A nice night out for dinner, of course I will want my partner dressed nicely in a dress shirt (maybe tie) and looking sharp. At home or trip to do errands, anything is fine.

If I have to pick based on the options, I prefer smartly dressed in a nice shirt, pants and tie. There is something about that to me that looks better.

i really don't like sweatpants and i'm glad my partner doesn't ever wear them, except when we're getting up in the morning or winding down after a long day. I dont think they're objectively a bad clothing item, i just don't like how they look personally. Waaay too casual
