But why do people get them in the first place?
Is it a status symbol or a way to show that your part of any group, or an expression of style?
Most online articles suggest that it's a way of 'body adornment'. Would you agree?
Thanks.
All different reasons. Some people just want to be cool and get whatever looks good to them. Some people want to use their body as a canvas and create a mural. They're also good for attention seekers as they're generally a decent way to get it without seeming overly needy.
Some people get tattoos because they have something they want remembered, displayed or "saved" like an idea or a person.
A lot of people get tattoos out of curisoty at first and continue because they find the process addicting, especially the part of getting inked by the tattoo gun.
I can tell you why I've never gotten a tattoo.. 2 reasons. First I could never decide what I would want on my body for life. The other is in my past crazy party days I had tattoo artists begging me to be their first ink. For free! It was fun to say Nah, I'm good.
Haha... any regrets?
Of course not! If I wanted a tattoo now, I'd go get one!
In some cases I think it is because they are retarded. A tat or two looks nice in most cases in my opinion, but those who cover their entire bodies with ink baffles me with what makes them think it looks good. Among other things it's painful and very expensive.
Back in my not so smart days I came very close to getting one but came to my senses before going for it.
I have a few and they all represent something to me and they are personal. They tell a story for me. Things I survived, did or motivational pieces. I love to put symbols on me, so just I could tell what it means.
Your passionate. Could you tell me a little bit about your favorite one?
They are all my favourite haha I have a palette and a painting brush because I love art in general and drawing is my passion which helped me a lot in expressing emotions on a paper, I have an anchor as my love for the sea. And I have a boats wheel (rudder) as a reminder that you choose which way you'll go in life.
Love it 🤩

Because they don't wanna' be left out; they wanna' be COOL! ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US! It's not so bad being trendy, everyone that looks like me is my friend. Please don't hate me because I'm trendy they're not gonna' laugh at me AGAIN! ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ... one of us.
I haven't listed to that song in ages. Pretty much sums up my answer to your question anyway.
There's a lot of reasons why someone gets tattoos.
Ultimately it comes down to self-expression. Whether that's a commemorative tattoo or just because they felt like it, they've chosen to represent a value on their person permanently. It's an expression of themselves in one way or another.
I think everyone has their own answer for that. Some like to express themselves with ink. Some might get one to commemorate a birth, or a loved one, or even a relationship. Some probably get them because they think ink looks cool. Or there could be millions of other reasons.
All reasons, I'm sure, but I got mine to represent my commitment and love to my girlfriend.
I put a blue Playboy bunny on one arm, and a hot pink Playboy bunny on the other arm, and when I cross my arms the bunnies are eternally gazing at each other expressing their love.
It can just be artwork or it can be telling a story on their skin. Nowadays it's because it's the cool thing to do. Just like owning a Jeep or a Ford bronco, everyone's doing it so I need to do it too.
I have a few tattoos myself. In my own personal opinion it's a way to express yourself. Some get tattoos just because, but I have noticed from people I've met over the years that have tats they get something on them with meaning. Like each tattoo someone has on them represents something meaningful to them from an experience or another person. There is usually always a story behind that specific tattoo. I know each one of mine has one.
It almost seems like people do it to fit in. At one time, it was the opposite, but things have changed now that they’re so, so commonplace.
Good on them, it’s their choice and their body.
some look really great.
Loads of reasons really
Got mine simply because i thought it was super cute.
The reasons vary from person to person
Because they look cool, to express themselves/or tell their stories, to remember someone, names of their family members (like my dad has my name on his arm since I was born), etc.
Because they thinks that this will looks good on their bodies
Sweet.
Aesthetics, self-expression, and/or meaning. I don't understand the last all that much. I'd much rather make a log of my thoughts. I've been thinking of doing that actually.
Not sure. I find it to be a turnoff unless its something small (that can be easily hidden) and meaningful
Its to remember something, or some people just love tats and want them all over their body doesn't matter if it has meaning or not, its like piercing maybe to look cool, or to feel confident if they aren't comfortable with their skin
Expressing themselves, some used it to have a memory of something important to them
A perfect way of destroying your appearance and lower your status in society in one go. Especially true for women.
It's a fact because many studies has been done that has proven this. It's not going to change in my lifetime. Because it's biological traits mixed in culture. You can try to change the culture but biology will always win. So it's a futile effort, you can only lie to yourself in a similar way as feminism and trans people do. It will not change the great majorities actions and preferences.
Will never happen, women don't want simps and real men don't women like you. In the long run men will continue to be on top. Because all you have done is ruin your values and ability to have a functional society. The people who doesn't follow in these footsteps will have kids that will rule over any broken homes your kind creates. So congratulations to only cause one thing a much faster population collapse in the societies you corrupt.
Different reasons.
I knew an ex-military guy who had "infidel" tattooed on his forearm, but it was in very large font, and written in Arabic. I don't think that was a fashion statement.
As person who has tattoo's we get it because we like art form for yourself. Not anyone else
I see it as we are a blank canvas and getting tattoos is just a way of painting that canvas be it cultural, religious or other reasons.
It's their way of expressing themselves.
I think they want to be like everyone else.
i dont like tatoos
Fug I want one
Good question. They never looked good to me.
Gotta be hip I suppose
Vain self harmers
They are sick
