that's a really nice style and looks really well...

the fit, is just a preference, if you like it and you're comfortable with it, then it is just fine... your mother preferences might be a bit different, that's all

what if you make it more fit, but then you don't like how it feels... you will be the one wearing it or, not wanting to wear it again... lol

Dresses are hard to tell if it's a bit bigger than that person's side, at least for most men, for example until I read the question I wouldn't have guessed it was bigger than it should be, it just looked like a dress but If it's not too much of a struggle then I don't see a problem in sewing it to your actual size mostly if you can make the sewing unnoticeable, I guess it all depends if you wanna take the time to do it.

I think it's very plain from top or the image quality is low.

But below the waist design looks good.

It would look much better if it was in a different color.

I think your body type can make any dress look good on you that's not even a matter you wear a tin foil hat it would still look good on you 😸.

All in all to goto local areas like buying something or for walk it's totally natural and normal it's kinda ok ok dress.
