Why is it more acceptable for a woman to wear leggings outdoors than sweatpants?

Let’s say you make both look presentable. I know it’s not really fashionable but sweatpants are comfier. If you wear cool sneakers and leather jacket, makeup and small jewellery making it look more presentable. Why would it be more looked down on as ‘sloppy’

Assuming both are for casual going out. Not for a restaurant or date

I think the sweatpants look can be pretty cute. If you want a reason why leggings are easier to get away with? One covers you up and one shows you off. When showing off it is pretty much assumed thought has gone into it and so it naturally becomes a styled look. When covering up it is instead at times seen as a way to avoid having to put effort in.

I am glad us guys have managed to all agree not to use the easy bonus points that a good style and some light makeup would give you to save each other the hassle of all having to do it. For you girls? Not doing it is pretty brave now, which adds to why the sweatpants look is cool if you pull it off.

Well I think it depends on the sweatpants. Lose fitted pants I think would be fine. But the sweatpants with the elastic at the ankles tends to give that I forgot to wash my laundry type of look. It’s not that they look bad but just unprepared. But I dont think no anyone would think that it would be a bad look if you wore sweatpants with a leather jacket.

Well, I'd say it's probably the same for women as it is for men. If you buy some cheap, weird hip hop sweatpants, don't expect to get too much admiration for it, but if you get some good-looking ones from a recognizable brand and it fits the rest of the style, it's probably going to look quite good.

Woman have been wearing form fitting clothes or nothing at all (think short skirts and low cut tops.)
in my opinion, lots of women's clothes are made for them to be as naked as possible and easily accessible. (Again, short skirts) lol.
