Girls, how do you feel about it being the norm for you to wear way more revealing outfits than men most of the time, especially in swimwear?

And just to clarify, this question is purely out of curiosity and speculation to understand the perspective, I have no issue with what people desire to wear at all. I’m curious as to why that has been the norm for so long and how women feel about it.

What is revealing about swimwear since you specifically mention that? What are we supposed to wear while in the water? I wear a bikini and the beach or pool but it is not skimpy in the least. I don’t care for those low coverage bikinis.

As for clothes in general, I don’t wear revealing clothes. I wear professional attire to work. Typically, nice pants and a button down top or similar. I pretty much keep it to plain colours and don’t show much skin. At home, I wear a T-shirt and shorts. Sometimes I will wear a sweatshirt or pajama type pants. Of course, I’m at home so no one but my SO sees me anyhow.

Even going out to a fancy dinner, my dresses don’t show much cleavage nor have a hemline that anyone would consider inappropriate or revealing. What makes you think women in general dress this way?

Thanks for the reply. Yes I understand anyone is absolutely able to wear whatever they want but generally what the modern norm would be is that women are expected to wear more revealing clothing. I use swimwear primarily as an example especially considering I’m asking this in the summer. The expectation and the norm is most women wear bikinis or one piece swimsuits and even those are in the likeness of skin tight underwear, whereas men are expected to wear much baggier and conservative shorts which some men will even wear underwear underneath. And I’m curious if women like that being the standard or maybe you don’t believe that is the expectation at all.

Well, unless I’m in the water, I have a coverup and a big floppy hat on. I don’t really sunbathe since my skin tone doesn’t change a whole lot in the sun.

So, outside of being in the water (or to and from) I’m covered. When in the water, you don’t see much. I’m not really one for exhibiting my body unnecessarily. I get enough stares because of my figure in normal clothes sadly.

I have but that’s part of my point, speedos are the norm for men and most men get shamed for wearing them. According to the standards, you’re either gay or a pervert if you wear a Speedo.

I do agree with people not minding their own business. Although I will say I’ve noticed Speedo shaming seems to be quite more common than bikini shaming. Most people that bikini shame generally aren’t likable people in general. Lol
