When it comes to suits, does going custom-tailored make a big enough difference that it's worth it?

So here's my situation; I have a conference to go to in two weeks, and I need a suit or two so I don't look like a scrub.

I can either go with more "normal" suits, which will they'll have in the store. Or I can go with custom tailored, which they'll obviously have to make and deliver to the store. Delivery time for the custom suit will take roughly 2 weeks, which brings me right up to my trip, so I'm kinda anxious about that timing.

Obviously, a custom suit will look better, but how much better? Is it worth the cost for me to go tailored?

One of the biggest things I hear about girls talking about European men vs American men, is that European men wear much better-fitted outfits. Usually a size down from what Americans wear. We tend to like our clothes baggy here.

If you can afford to get your stuff tailored, I'd give it a try. I knew a guy who didn't have a single piece of clothing that wasn't professionally-tailored. He must have had either very little clothes or a lot of money.

But you can also learn to do your own tailoring. I thought about buying a sewing machine and trying it myself. It's basically just a matter of flipping a shirt inside-out, sewing inside the seams, and cutting off the excess.

But yeah, I'd say that tailoring is the difference between looking like you don't fit into your body, and looking like you have exactly the body you intended to. A big guy in a tailored outfit looks like he wanted to be big and it's part of his look. A big guy in a baggy shirt looks like he's just kinda stuck with the body he has.

I think there's a key factor when it comes to consider a custom-tailored suit for you...

and this is about your sizes... if you are well among the average of the population within your country, or wherever you got the suit, then the chances are very likely that it will suit you well and look the best for you

and by that I mean certain and specific measures, for example the width or broadness of your back and shoulders... or how long are your arms, some people have shorter or longer arms, lol... and another aspect can be your waist compared to the length of your legs, this last one for me is always a tricky one (also the width of my back)

so, it is in the little details... if one of them is off, then the suits might look a little bit off on you, or they are not going to be as comfortable to you as a custom-tailored suit that just fits you very well

Ehh I don't know. I never found suits hot on a guy. can't you just wear a polo and khakis? Or throw a blazer over a shirt? Now thats casually sexy af with a touch of professional preppy 😂 The style i like on men is sooooo 😩 ik

Where are you getting it from? Jos. A. Bank has three different fits. Their turnaround on alterations is usually two weeks, but they can make special arrangements if the tailor's workload permits.
