No in the U. S. it does not work that way. It is supposedly a difference of 2, for example I wear (usually) an 8, if I wore a guy's shoe it would be a 6. However I am not sure if that is always true, I think there might be some other differences like width bc when I have tried on a mens 6 it didn't seem to fit quite right. I do also wear a UK size 6 but, I don't think that is exactly the same as a U. S. mens 6 either.
