There's a physical component to it, but it's not this kind of nose in particular, or that color of hair.. It's the whole girl. The way she carries herself, and her smile... the sound of her laugh... a lot of things... I must tell you, as I get older, when I remember people it is almost always to do with the attitude that they carried... how do you feel when you remember them... The mental images are not exact... but it might be that I recall the smell that accompanied them in such a way that it almost seemed real just for an instant... as the French might say "she has a certain je ne sais quoi" (literally "I don't know what)
If they could pin this down like a science it would already be in a bottle... probably a quite expensive bottle.

I've never tried to analyse it. A woman's either pretty or she isn't. I can tell at a glance, the same way women can tell at a glance if they want to sleep with you.
