So i have naturally curly hair and i use a straightening iron to make it straight and it gets the job done but the problem is that i end up looking like a porcupine, my hair gets all stiff pointing outward instead of going down.

How long is your hair and how thick is it? Shorter, thicker hair will stick up more when straightened with heat.
That’s why. It’s probably too short to let gravity take over.
Do you use conditioner (cream rinse) after shampooing? If not, you need to. If you already do use conditioner, it could be that you need a different one or that you're not letting it rest in your hair long enough before rinsing it out.

Not sure why that would happen, but you could ask a beautician.
Is your hair short?
Then that’s why! Regardless of what the packaging says, hair straighteners are for medium to long hair. Also if you have ANY product in your hair, a straightening iron can “harden” the product. If you currently have curly short hair, and you want straight (although why would you? Curly hair on a man is beautiful!) but you might wis to consider a collagen straightening treatment done at a salon. But I doubt that the iron will ever do anything for you except spike your hair. You COULD try it w/o product, but I doubt it will work!
Hey, you gotta do you boo. Not everything is right for everyone! Jeez I keep trying to tell people who ask questions like “why do girls…” or “what makes girls only want to date…” or even “why do guys insist on always…” that not all men are alike, and the same with us, not all women are the same. Some may, but others may not. No two humans are exactly alike, even identical twins have different personalities. So curly hair doesn't suit you, I suggest maybe looking into a Collagen hair straightening. I know girls who get id done, and it really looks great, their hair even seemed healthier and most def shinier and full of body. It’s not cheap, bot you do get what you pay for and this is definitely the VERY BEST way to straighten your hair.. and it’s permanent! You just need to get it touched up when it grows out (from what I’ve seen, but I’ve never had it done.) my hair is just so boringly straight. Seriously, I’d just love some extra bounce in my hair! ☹️
