If I grow my hair out, it happens to me too if I use a comb or a brush so I don't use it but I was just talking about this a few weeks ago with some friends and one of the things we thought could cause this is static from the plastic because most combs and brushes have plastic bristles so maybe that's it...

Give it a spritz of detangler, then brush and comb. If it still gets frizzy, try and "ion" ceramic brush (10-12USD) or (some people swear by this) wipe hair down with a wad of aluminum foil to drain away the static. (I don't have enough hair for this to much matter :-)
Maybe you should get a brush more suitable for your kind of hair

Because brushing your hair can harm the cuticle or stretch the hair, especially if you brush it while your hair is dry.
It looks just as good "After" as it does "Before". Don't worry about it!

I'd assume it was just static.
