What should I make?

One of my goals this year is to sew my own clothes. I made a cosplay costume last year and I really enjoyed the process so I would like to make myself something more wearable. Not sure where to start to help me out!

A top

A skirt

A dress

A corset

If you are brand new to sewing, start with a skirt. Tops and dresses are far too advanced for someone just starting out. Sewing your own clothes is rewarding, but it is a laborious process and can be frustrating at times, so it’s important to keep things simple. Be mindful of the material you choose as well - start with a pattern that can be made with 100% cotton, as cotton is the easiest for a beginner to work with. You will not need any special needles or thread for that. Also remember that once you start cutting your fabric, there’s no going back. Measure twice and cut once!

All 3 look fine to me. What type of clothing? Is it formal, casual, sporting?

It is harder to make regular clothes than costumes, my opinion. Sewing for me is hard for due to bad eye sight.

I hope it works out. If it does, you can probably make something for my girlfriend.

The top and skirt look the simplest to make. ( I am not saying they are easy) The dress would be more challenging and the corset the hardest I believe. Can we see the outfit when you are done? I choose the corset...

Start with something simple and make a top but can you post on pic of it when you don't cause I'd love to see how it turns out
