Girls, how does being overweight affect your fashion?

when i was overweight i'd wear mainly black to look slimmer, would almost always have these oversize jackets that i thought hid everything, would avoid anything tight fitting or that showed off skin. would also say my fashion sense was significantly worse because since most stores wouldn't have my size. my size wasn't plus size but like in between normal and plus kind of. so i mainly wore basic as fuck stuff for the most part
Wouldn't oversized jackets just make you look bigger? I have a friend who's even larger than me (lower to mid plus size range, but not fat) and she always seems way larger to me when she does that.
on some people yea for me no. most of my fat was concentrated on my upper thighs/butt and hip area and the rest didn't look fat including my face. so the jackets would hide the problem areas essentially. so i looked kinda like an averagish weight person almost with just a big jacket on
That sounds like the weight distribution guys tend to die for. 🤣
I'm pretty jealous.
Usually, it effects the availability. If I want to find a dress at a store, they only have so many in my size to try on and it might not always be my preferred color so I’d have to order it. Another issue is the fact that there could be a lot of really cute clothes I want to try on but either they don’t have my size in stock at that location or they don’t have sizes that big period.
I hope it doesn't come off as an insensitive question, but how "large" are you?
I'm like... lower to mid part of the plus sized scale and it's pretty rare for me to have those problems.
It depends on the store honestly. I’m usually in the 2x-3x range
I haven’t been really overweight but like when I just have a baby or something my body is not what I’m used to kinda squishy it’s really not fun trying on clothes because I need to actually pay attention to what looks good, normally I can just put anything on any my body looks great. I imagine it’s either really stressful or it’s just normal to them.
At my normal size 2-4 if I go in a store and like something on the mannequin I know it will look good on me its so nice I really appreciate being a healthy weight.
For me when I was heavier and more curves I loved all fashion but did not have confidence to wear what I wanted so I didn’t
Other than when I was pregnant, this is not something I have any experience of.
You can't buy cute dresses in your size
it effects the availability
