Would you ever get a used wedding dress?

Every time I’m at a goodwill-type place I look at their wedding dresses. I know that buying new wedding gowns can be ridiculously expensive, and while I can appreciate and desire a high quality, well-designed dress for that special day, I can’t see how anyone genuinely wants to spend potentially thousands on something they’re realistically only going to wear once.
The only problem is that with a secondhand dress, there’s no guarantee that it’s stain or damage-free. There’s also no guarantee you’re going to find anything that fits you and looks good or is your “dream dress”.
That being said, did you or would you shell out the cash and buy new? Or did you persist and find your dream gown secondhand?

My friend married a very rich man and her father made close to minimum wage so for his daughters wedding, he decided to rent a tuxedo instead of buying one. You could also post in the personal classifieds or on Facebook saying you are looking to buy a used wedding dress and list your clothing size, or see if a sister or cousin or grandparent can lend you their used wedding dress. Or you could create a go fund me page asking your wedding guests to donate to the cost of your wedding dress as their wedding present to you.

Just look the dress over and have it dry cleaned before you wear it. Being upset that address has been worn once before even though you're saving potentially thousands of dollars on it is really silly. Or buy something off of Amazon or something, they sell pretty nice wedding dresses for very inexpensive.

My Lill Fluffy, if I were a girl and I was marrying a guy as sweet as me, I would come wrapped in a towel and even standing on one leg to marry me. But the again I think the whole wedding biz ( and funeral biz, etc. ) they are all scams. But the again, and again... if I was marrying as sweet a girl as you, Miss Fluff, I would come butt naked and crawling.

My wife found a lovely wedding dress in a thrift shop six months after she met me. It fit her perfectly so she bought it for ten dollars. It was Priscilla of Boston, probably $1500 new. She got to wear it.

There are shops that specialize in used wedding dresses. Find one you like and save a lot of money.

The love is all that matters in a marriage, everything physical is superficial, now I'm not saying these things can't be somewhat important but thinking of it being used or new or whatever is putting too much importance into that physical object like the love isn't the center of it, I'd say buy what you like, it's your special day and if you are satisfied and happy with it, then enjoy your wedding.

Wedding dresses like photo's, and heirlooms are more than just a "thing" to be bought and sold.

Ÿou're supposed to have something old, something new, something used and something blue by tradition. So a used wedding dress fits the bill. You can have it dry cleaned and get a place like Stitch it to do any required alterations.

So many online wholesalers from china like dear lover doing cheap clothes though... you only need to wear it once... how much do you really want to spend on it just to box it up afterwards?

My wife wore her mother's wedding gown. She washed it by hand with Ivory Snow and did some alterations herself. It really looked good and the price was right.

I could fo either way with that it would depend on the bride and how she felt. But props on being financially responsible on your big day.
