Why the front camera makes us so ugly compared to the mirror?

I talked about this with my friend. And front camera makes it look like you are disformed lol. In the mirror you are 5× hotter and they say mirror is closer to reality so thats good. But when that selfie comes up I scare myself sometimes. Start overthinking.. is this what I look like😭 but I dont lol..
